Massive servers for VPS nodes
I have my own custom billing system for shared hosting. Now, to expand a bit, I think to add VPS support.
For that I think to rent few beefy dedicated boxes with 30+ IPs. I have done similar thing before 9 years. Is it still viable nowadays or collocation is the only option left? Targeting not the lowest end, medium'ish.
Primary looking in Europe, Netherlands.
Example specs:
2 x CPU Xeon Gold / AMD EPYC
256 / 384 GB DDR5
1 TB NVMe
@1Gbps pipe
32 IPs

We also have the Dual Xeon Gold 6430 if you're interested at a higher price point.
I would not consider 1TB NVMe raw storage 'massive'
If you had 1000 GB usable storage, which you wouldn’t, but just to make it easy
And let’s say you can allocate all 384 GB RAM to VMs
That’s 2,6 GB disk per GB RAM VM
A 2 GB RAM VM can have 5,2 GB disk
Not sure anyone wants 5 GB disk with their 2 GB RAM VM
So around 250€ I could get pretty decent node. Damn, huge price to start.
This is a good idea.
For $3/y, I could even consider that.
Depends on how you look at it, how many customers do you expect to fit in there and what would be your profit margins from sales of both hosting and vps services.
I'm way too broke to think about this but I consider 250 EUR/mo to be rather low cost of running an actual business.
You also need place for backups, panel and status page so that would probably add to the costs.
make it minium 4 TB NVMe
that is def doable, depending on provider though 32 ips could add to cost, some charge very little some charge a lot.
Idk selling generic VPS locations in 2025 doesnt make much sense i think if you're a new provider
Hard to compete with ovh new vps line
What do you have in mind, highend, lowend?
