    Wonderful Alexhost Update! <3

    • Great news! Alexhost has kindly agreed to extend it's sponsorship of FOSSVPS' Chisinau node beyond the previously set expiration date of October 30, 2025. No new expiration date has been set. Alexhost also added an additional 5 dedicated IPv4 addresses. Thanks @alexhost! <3

    Important!

    • The Chisinau node needs to be rebooted. Probably the reboot will happen about or after 3:00 PM UTC on Saturday, September 6, 2025.

    • Another post will be made here prior to the reboot.

    • The previous time the Chisinau node was rebooted, a power bump was needed to get the node restarted. That might happen again.

    • If you need the reboot to be delayed, please post here.

    The Chisinau server again seems offline following the attempted reboot.

    I opened a ticket with Alexhost requesting a hardware reset.

    Following attention by Alexhost support, the Chisinau server is again online. It responds to ping, and I can log in. virsh seems to think that all the current VMs are running.

    I can confirm everything looks fine from my end now. I saw when it went down for the reboot and everything came back as expected once they got it back online. Great work!

    Heh, I was just wondering why there was an unexpected reboot earlier but that explains it.
    Glad to see that the initiative is getting even more support! I'm switching ISPs at home ATM so I've actually gotten more use of mine than I thought I would - thanks again :)

    I don't think they have as yet made a decision about renewal.

    Tried multiple ai chat ui's , uninstalled as most are kind of messy (kept openwebui as it was okay) , I did it as I needed to run with api ,

    More have tried n8n,redis,bitwarden,logto

    Hello!

    There are 5 new IPv6-only Ubuntu 24.04 LTS VPSes ready to go on the Alexhost node Chisinau.

    Since the recent node software update and reboot a few days ago, there has been some trouble making new Debian VPSes, which no longer boot. Also, there may now be some file I/O instability on the existing Debian VPSes. Nevertheless, the new Ubuntu VPSes seem fine! Also an OpenBSD VPS seems to be working excellently.

    It again is time for me to sleep, so I will be back tomorrow. Hopefully I can review the existing requests and try to assign some free VPSes.

    Hi Tom, thanks for following up!

    This is strictly for a personal, non-commercial project. I’m a software engineer (mostly non-web); here is my Github repo.

    On the VPS, I plan to self-host a monitoring stack—e.g., Uptime Kuma/HotHost—to track the uptime of my hobby services. I’ll also use it to learn more about ops tooling like Docker and k3s.
