I'd say depends on your needs. OVH has better value no doubt but from what I see in benchmarks then Hetzner has significantly better performance per core, better IOPS and they come with 10 or 20 Gbps connectivity.

OVH billing beats my nerves for sure

  • It's been a while since Hetzner has come up with an exciting new product.

"Beat" is quite a broad question.

There are many different factors which can come into play here.

Are you talking about in terms of server performance? customer service? payment methods? location availability? addon/upgrade pricing, etc.

  • I think it still depends on your application goals。 for me hostbrr perforamnce is god like lol 10G port + high frequency + Reasonable prices

And I got bashed for calling that out and asking when that would increase...

    Jeez.

@Hetzner_OL Have you checked OVH and Leaseweb new VPS series? We’re waiting for Hetzner’s brand-new OH-LEA series. Please forward this to the boss😁

Hetzner wins on panel (OVH is slow as fuck), billing, support and uptime. Would never hosting anything close to prod on OVH.

Also don't forget that fire incident at one of their DC's.

Don’t tag them they’re extremely busy increasing prices on aging hardware.

    Makes no sense.

If your prod is important enough that a single OVH DC isn’t enough, and you have no redundancy, you’re to blame.

If you need faster billing support, you can afford their paid support.

  • OVH ofc :)

  • Hetzner allows you to install Windows Server from ISO which allows you to use your own key.
OVH's network might be a bit better in terms of connectivity but I have yet to have a problem with Hetzner.

I publish a game on PC and for the last 5 years, we have had zero downtime because of Hetzner.

Last time I checked the compute scores on Hetzner were better as well but this is 6 years ago now.

If I was doing a large bandwidth project, I would side with OVH purely because of that "unlimited" connection.
Hetzner does have have speed of 10gbps, but bandwidth costs €1something per TB after a set amount.

Oh and OVH panel sucks last time I used it...

I think that is normal, OVH is much bigger and busier. Sure, some better hardware and resources could help, but, unless you are google or similar, there would be trade-offs.
The lower your price is, the more crowded the services are and you have an issue balancing costs with revenues, some performance loss will be recorded on similar hardware, but at half the price, I think it is worth it for end-user.
If money is not an issue, then you go AWS or some other top tier provider, not Hezner. If money is THE criterion, then you go with OVH.
Personally I am hosting many dedicated services with OVH and haven't seen performance problems or downtime. Sure, billing is horrendous and the panels slow, but Hezner is not perfect either and I am not prepared to pay the Hezner price difference only for that.
Plus, I need unlimited traffic, therefore I have no real choice.

Yeah sound's like your game server had not received ddos. Doubt you will be happy with them if your server is ddosed often..

I had downtime with Hetzner without DDoS. It occurs.

Same with OVH, had downtime there as well.

  • I’ve moved many projects to OVH, and I prefer it over Hetzner. The main things I still find missing are hourly billing for cloud and dedicated servers and stronger shared hosting and managed server options, which are needed by some businesses.

  • Does anyone really think Hetzner cares about how their VPS business is doing?

The product works and is reliable. They don't need to lower their pricing to be lower-than-bargain-bin to compete. After having used OVH since 2010~, I'd much rather give money to Hetzner.

  • Is Hetzner’s Cloud VPS actually a true cloud VPS?

  • i used to use hetzner VPS for a small project for over 2 month, very bad network

Leaseweb seems to be only B2B?
