Only if you’re lucky. I’m not.

  • So apparently OVH ( @OVHcloud ) watch this forum…. I had a bit of an idea…

Take all the old components you have lying around and allow users to assemble servers choosing from these components. Keep the systems cheap - average system around $10 - $12 per month. Users can choose CPU, RAM, storage, bandwidth, etc.

    1. Customization makes issue resolving harder
    2. Requires manual work
    3. Competes against better offers

    Not gonna happen

Was about to say that, the amount of manual work involved in configuring something like that, along with maintaining it (saying RAM, Storage issues) would cost them a fortune in staff costs.

I bet it will be somewhere in 169–229€ range, but I suspect it's going to be 179 or 189€

What do you mean? They talked about it in a podcast, as well as about the commitment removal. This was a change, since there was too much support hours wasted for inquire about waiving the commitment and/or getting the setup waived/refunded.

We should be getting on their nerves about having monthly invoices waived/refunded as well until they decide to lower all dedi prices to $0/month so that we won't bother them about invoices anymore.

    /s

Good guys at OVH, this was a good decision (waiving setup fees).

Yeah, appreciate the recommendation, but its a gameserver, we don't allow such and it needs to be within EU. :)

It's probably permanent, Octave had a podcast in French (like a month ago) where he said that commitment will be gonne too soon as it is too much problem and would rather have it cheaper on monthly
