What about Los Angeles (west coast USA)? 145-160ms to eastern part of China.
best bet wud be cloudclone on this one.
For your budget, IMO, AWS Lightsail (create vps in SG/ap-southeast-1 region) would be hard to beat, esp. consider the 3 month free promotion. I'm getting up to 4.5gbps there!
it depends on which isp you’re using in China.
for china unicom, vps such as aws jp, aws sg, tw hinet, claw jp and many others which locate in East Asia are all good. and @MikeA has offer in JP which is also good.
for china mobile, there are way too many available options, i won’t list them.
there are the least options if you are using china telecom. you need find cn2 / cn2 gia.
dmit, bwh, lightplaer, have some good offers, but be careful before buying.

Thanks all for the advice. Seems it's a more complicated question than I thought!
@igctt For China Mobile, is there anything to look out for when choosing a VPS? Do they advertise bandwidth to China Mobile, like I often see CN2 advertised for China Telecom?
Is it realistic to get 1G to/from China, or like OrangeVPS, only 1G domestically and up to 10M to China?
yeah, it’s called CMIN2
it’s really expensive tho. for China mobile, you’d better find some vps located in hongkong, there are some providers who have Lumen connected, it’s quite good for cm users
For China Mobile users, I would primarily recommend HK and SG. You can choose the one-year free tiers from either AWS or GCP, as both of these locations are very suitable. For paid options, the only one I know of is vmiss, which costs 5 CAD. You can also try running more pings.
maybe u can read my post via blog
many chinese vps sales can offer them, but u maybe need CN ID or CN PHONE NUMBER
MAYBE TRY DMIT\BWH\Vmiss
Strongly advise against using clawcloud. If your bandwidth ever goes briefly high, no matter how short a time, you will be permanently throttled. Even running yabs once is sufficient to get you throttled to 50-90 mbps permanently.
They advertise generous specs, but it's all a lie. If you use the server for anything at all, it will be throttled and you can't use any of the bandwidth promised.
Here's my post describing how my VPS was throttled permanently after using just 18GB of my 1000GB/m allowance (and completely idle for the previous 4 months):

On top of that, there's no way in their control panel to cancel (the cancel button just takes you to the tickets page) and they ignore tickets. After 2 weeks,.mine were still unanswered, so I deleted my payment details and blocked the card with the issuer too just in case.
The rest of that thread is full of other people with similar issues. Do yourself a favour, and don't waste your time being scammed by them.
get one from Racknerd from their Los Angeles dc. quite low latency to china!

HK: CN-HGK-PRO-7K62-VPS, Direct connection to Mainland China
Japan: JP-TYO-PRO-7K62-VPS, Direct connection to Mainland China
US: US-LAX-Premlum-7452-vps, Round-trip by CN2GIA/9929/CMIN2
If Singapore works for you, we can provide a low-end VPS close to China.
1 core / 1 GB RAM / 20 GB NVMe / 1 TB traffic
$48/year or $5/month
Crypto accepted, no KYC
I need low latency, fast and stable ipv6 bgp full route sessions.
I recommend you to buy LightNode For China Mobile users. Its around 1 TB traffic for about $7.71/month. its very cheap as per your need.
As a VPN user in China, I recommend Bandwagon Host’s CN2 GIA VPS. You can choose locations like Los Angeles, Hong Kong, or Japan. From my experience, Los Angeles is good enough for most use cases and also more cost-effective.
You can check out GIA(AS4809),CU(AS9929),CMIN2 (AS58807) optimized vps in Los Angeles USA

Best VPS for China, is actually INSIDE China.
Perhaps you could check this link—I’m a China Mobile user:
aff:https://cloud.karvl.com/r?r=ebadc8435f
Here is the test script information I ran using the “Miscellaneous Fusion Script”:
https://paste.spiritlhl.net/#/show/AKsb5.txt
“融合怪测试” is translated contextually as “Miscellaneous Fusion Script,” a common tool in the Chinese developer community for comprehensive server/network testing. The name is adapted for intelligibility while retaining the idea of “mixed” or “comprehensive” testing.
Explicitly mentioning “China Mobile” helps indicate possible ISP-specific network behavior.
The phrasing “Perhaps you could check” softens the request while maintaining clarity.
Links are preserved exactly as provided.
why not DediRock
We have hong kong CN2 vps
We have VPS in South Korea https://unihost.com/vps/korea/
Low latency to China
You have to increase your budget to $50~100/m to get a opt route to China Telecom.
OwnWebServers is offering a 50% discount on VPS Hosting plans when using the code VPS50. If you need a reliable and affordable hosting solution, this is a great opportunity. Get high-speed servers, enhanced security, and seamless performance at half the price. Don't miss out on this deal.
Yes, you really understand how expensive Hong Kong resources are — more than most people do.
If it’s just a small port around 20–30 Mbps, the budget can be reduced to about $5 USD.
Hong Kong is expensive, I suggest you increase your budget to 50-90 USD to buy Gomami.
Asia servers optimized for China are expensive. 3CNY (0.42USD) per 1GB. If you can afford, I recommend Alibabacloud. BTW, there are lots of fake optimized route, they are cheap but not stable.
why not DMIT optimized
