1G Servers and the DDR3 TRAVESTY

This is my 24 hour review of 1G Servers, and what I have found is a TRAVESTY. DDR3 RAM??? B-B-But you said DDR4! And hey, as I said in the support ticket, it would be a fantastic deal if they can make it happen.

The Discovery

But WHY is the way I find this out because I was researching the CPU I was given. Only to find it can't even support DDR4. I checked on the server, and sure enough, DDR3. My server has to be fully rebuilt if they are to live up to their advertisement on LET.

The Offer

But, let's take a look at the offer, Back To School Deal #4... I will get a "Dual E5-2650v2 or Dual E5-2670v2 or Dual E5-2695v2 or Dual E5-2680v3 (depends on stock)" with my plan.

Let's see what these support:

:'( E5-2650v2 => DDR3 800/1066/1333/1600/1866
:'( E5-2670v2 => DDR3 800/1066/1333/1600/1866
:'( E5-2695v2 => DDR3 800/1066/1333/1600/1866
:) E5-2680v3 => DDR4 1600/1866/2133

Only one CPU they listed supports DDR4. So, if I am lucky, I will get what I am advertised? I know it's a LowEndHost, but damn that hurts... While this only applies to deal #4, it left a bad feeling. I don't want to have to creep around the server for clues of misconfiguration. Especially if it is a dedicated server. $50 a month adds up as a student, so I should at least get what I paid for...

Going Forward

I almost paid for the quarterly payment plan, but I guess I'm glad I didn't. I likely won't leave, provided they rebuild the server, but it's not the case where I'm proud to be hosting with 1G. I mean, normally hosts create a great 24 hour experience. You know? Getting all those emails with your info, and getting to crack into a sexy new install. I just didn't feel the same way with 1G Servers.

For anyone working at 1G, my service number is 15888. HOWEVER, I thought it was useful to post about, as I don't just want me to get "justice," I'm looking for everyone to get the server they so dreamed of in that sexy advertisement.

Going forward, I hope they will amend a note about DDR3, or (what I hope most) they will refund past customers who took the deal for service time and/or (also what I hope most) upgrade everyone's servers to ECC DDR4, as the advertisement stated.

Comments

  • I have experience with 1GServers before and they have been great for me. But I can see there's a mistake in the listing that you shared as it only mentions DDR4. Perhaps @1gservers can arrange something here.

    I agree! I trust they will have a solution, and the issues w/ the post can be resolved.

    1G responded and offered me a full refund or an upgrade to a server to one with a Dual E5-2680v3 and DDR4 RAM.
