Need VPS/VDS around $20/month.

This is what I need.

CPU: 6+ cores at 3.0GHz base, 4.0GHz turbo/boost.
RAM: 14GB+
Storage: 256GB+ NVMe
Bandwidth: 8TB+/month
Network Speed: 1Gbps+
Location: Central US, Southeast, and Northeast US.
Budget: $20/month, If the specifications exceed the need, it can be raised.
Optional: Automated backups/snapshots

Use Case:
Will be using for learning Go programming and streaming Udemy videos on VPS,
accessed remotely via SSH and VNC using Ubuntu 24.04 LTS.

My workload includes:
Learning Go Programming: Writing, compiling, and testing Go code.
Video Streaming: Watching 1080p Udemy videos in a browser.
Multitasking: Running a code editor, terminals, git, and possibly tests or debuggers.
Frequency: Coding sessions of 1-3 hours daily, with 10 or less compilations per session.

The VPS will experience 100% CPU usage across 6 cores for .8 or less seconds per Go compilation depending on CPU, 10 or less times up to 3 hour sessions. This is not very long at all, should be acceptable.

I will check this post sometime tomorrow, I hope I get offers.

Thanks. I was going to post but I don't sell VDS. @Nanja I can do a 16GB RAM plan for $20 if you want and don't find a suitable deal. 16GB RAM, 6 Cores, 240GB NVMe but I can give you more store. Texas, New Jersey, Florida, if stock permits at the time.

  • not $20/yr?

PM me if you want this one, even though it’s out of stock on the website.

It doesn't exactly match your requirements but it comes close, so I thought I would offer it.

    KVM Premium M
    AMD EPYC Genoa (8 vCPU)
    16GB DDR5 ECC Memory
    256GB NVMe SSD Storage
    32TB Bandwidth (10 Gbps)
    Located in Kansas City, MO
    $20/month

The main problem is that the Genoa 9654 processors we use in Kansas City have a base clock of 2.4 GHz and turbo up to 3.7 GHz. Usually, these processors are at 3.7 GHz all-core nearly all the time because we use a higher 400W TDP preset.

    You can also consider:

    KVM Extreme H3
    AMD EPYC Turin (8 vCPU)
    16GB DDR5 ECC Memory
    512GB NVMe SSD Storage
    10TB Bandwidth (10 Gbps)
    Located in Los Angeles, CA
    $24/month

We use AMD EPYC 9755 or equivalents. These turbo to 4.1 GHz all-core, but have a base clock of 2.7 GHz. These also pretty much sustain 4.1 GHz.

…but I know that the location is not exactly ideal :(

The VPS will experience 100% CPU usage across 6 cores for .8 or less seconds per Go compilation depending on CPU, 10 or less times up to 3 hour sessions. This is not very long at all, should be acceptable.

This workload is perfectly fine on any of our Turin/Genoa lineup of servers, in fact, you can definitely sustain it for hours at a time if you really wanted. The only time where we'd probably step in is if you happened to order 10 and started maxing them all out 24x7 or something like that... it's very rare that we cap CPU usage on Genoa/Turin hypervisors.

Automated backups can be enabled in our control panel, we backup daily and keep the last 5 days. Manual backups/snapshots are not a feature yet unfortunately.

  • Unless you are encoding, most of your tasks could be handled by even a $3 per month cpu.

If you are indeed encoding, that amount of RAM will be a wastage in the first place.

https://1gservers.com/cloud starts at $20/mo for developer tier.
