[Market Survey] Dedicated Server Preferences in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

edited August 2025 in General

Hi everyone,

We’re currently researching the feasibility of launching dedicated servers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and would love to hear community feedback.

Example configuration we’re considering:

  • 40-core Intel Gold
  • 128GB RAM
  • 2 × 960GB SSD
  • 100Mbps international bandwidth (via HE)
  • 1 IPv4 + /64 IPv6

Indicative monthly pricing: around USD190

We’d like to know:

  • Would this location (Kuala Lumpur) be useful for your projects?
  • How do you feel about this level of pricing vs. specs?
  • Which factors matter most to you (bandwidth, storage, location, SLA)?

This is purely a market survey — not a sales thread. Your feedback will help shape whether and how we move forward.

Thanks a lot!
— Ming

The CPU is 40-Core 80T 2.4GHZ Dual CPU Intel Xeon Gold 6180
    Network is unlimited traffic

  • 100Mbps international bandwidth is a stain in your possible offer.

Thanks for your feedback. In your opinion, what level of international bandwidth (Mbps) would be reasonable?

  • Minimum 1gbps. Limited bandwidth is fine. Just make sure it’s 1gbps minimum.

for dedicated server, 1Gbps link is a must

    Thank you for your opinion.
We understand that a 1Gbps link is often considered standard for dedicated servers.
However, in Asia, the cost of true unmetered dedicated 1Gbps bandwidth is usually higher than the total selling price of such servers, which makes it challenging to include in these offers.

Would a shared 1Gbps uplink (with guaranteed minimum bandwidth and burst capacity) be an acceptable compromise in your opinion?
Your feedback would be very valuable for us to align our offers more closely with market expectations.

  • Offer 1gbps line and offer various bandwidth packages. 20,30,50,100TB etc.

Or offer 100mbps with option to upgrade to 200,300 etc.

Server speca sounds good, but in many cases these will be overkill for 100mbps line.

yes this is the common standard in asia.

also HE have POP in MY? or are you buying capacity to singapore similar to @advinservers?

  • shared 1G is ok. especially with guaranteed minimum bandwidth and burst capacity

Yes, HE has a POP in Malaysia, located at AIMS Data Centre. We are currently in discussions with them regarding capacity.
