    Hi @Not_Oles ,
If i am qualified. I'd like to host a blog using wordpress and a code server to do remote dev for a cf worker based open project. And may ttry the browser-use ai tool for weekly report automation.

Looking at your request I am hoping for a few additional, specific details.

Also, How positive is your view of the LET community?

The VPS time period for this offer is until October 30, 2025, and might or might not be renewed.

To be clear, we're talking about the Alexhost server in Chisinau, Moldova.

Besides the original time period of Alexhost's kind donation, <3 and that the kindly donated <3 server node might or might not be renewed, please note also:

  • update on my zitadel testing from other FOSSVPS thread. It doesn't appear to work without a reverse proxy. configuration also appears way more complicated than authentik (at least using traefik, I may see how it is with caddy if I can find a good way to do so).

What I could do is move you to Chisinau, where all the VPSes already are Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. Would Chisinau work for you?

I just familiar with ubuntu and have ubuntu pro subscription, but it not a strict requirement so I'll continue using London VPS with debian.

May I please ask, why don't you want to use your ssh key?

The reason is I'm writing ansible to manage some of my servers, I'm thinking about using different key for development and production. I didn't created the production one yet.

But nevermind, thank you and onlyserver for the London VPS <3

Excellent! I will double check tomorrow and send you a PM with access details. Thanks! <3

Got in and everything is working as expected. Time to get everything set up.

    Cheers!

This is above my pay grade! So I need more context. But maybe others here are able to understand.

Perhaps a few questions might help?

    • Are you talking about https://github.com/zitadel/zitadel ?

    • How did you conclude that zitadel doesn't appear to work without a reverse proxy?

    • What features from zitadel or authentik do you need?

    • Can you give an example of the configuration difference between zitadel and authentik?

    Thanks again! <3

    • Are you talking about https://github.com/zitadel/zitadel ? that's the one

    • How did you conclude that zitadel doesn't appear to work without a reverse proxy? I kept reading, and I found a mode where you can disable tls. but production mode would require a cert for https/tls, which you would either have to purchase a cert or use a reverse proxy to automate let's encrypt certs (free).

    • What features from zitadel or authentik do you need? I currently use authentik for sso for a bunch of apps, I was looking into testing zitadel as a replacement as some youtube selfhosters (namely Jim's garage) said it was pretty cool. normally he provides configs you can tweak to use for his videos too, but the one he did on zitadel is almost 2 years old and the DB he used is no longer supported by zitadel. So I can't re-use his compose and configs.

    • Can you give an example of the configuration difference between zitadel and authentik, with authentik/traefik I can just slap docker labels on the authentik web container and it will use https/tls. for zitadel/traefik they have it setup different without using docker labels, which may or may not work I didn't test that since I can't use a reverse proxy on the natvps. It looks like the zitadel/caddy setup is simpler from what I can tell reading the documentation, so I may give that a shot if I can find a spare pc laying around to test at home.

By the way, I think we might have one dedicated IPv4 VPS available in Los Angeles!

Thanks to @fmxm for donating this nice server node!

I am positive about LET but not for someone like a dick.
OK, actually I am quite quiet most time for above reason and culture difference.
So I guess I am rejected again due to inactive or no enough contribution? Well, I quit.

  • Hello @Not_Oles and generous providers,

I would like to apply for a free VPS from FOSSVPS. Thank you so much for providing this wonderful opportunity to the open source community!

    1. I plan to run Kubernetes and deploy the open source project "Kite" (https://github.com/ysicing/kite ) - a Kubernetes visualization dashboard similar to Rancher for managing K8s clusters. Along with this, I'll be deploying various open source applications including:MySQL Redis RabbitMQ/Kafka
Sample applications built with go and jdk to test the K8s deployment workflow

    2. As a server application developer, I'm passionate about contributing to the open source community. I actively work with Kubernetes and containerization technologies in my development work. By using this VPS to learn and test K8s deployments, I plan to:
Contribute improvements and bug fixes back to the Kite project
Share my learning experiences and tutorials with the community
Help test and validate open source K8s management tools

3.London - preferred for better latency from my location

    1. Dedicated IPv4 is perfectly fine for my use case.

@forghani Apolgies for my being late, but your login details have now finally been sent.

I look forward to learning from your posts in this thread! Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the server and best wishes for sure!

    @Aphelios

    Hello!

Congrats on your new LET account!

Your VPS application is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

An issue is that we have no more dedicated IPv4 slots in London. However, several NAT IPv4 slots do remain available in London.

We have one dedicated IPv4 slot in Los Angeles and several IPv4 slots in Chisinau.

What's the best option for you?

    Kind regards,

    Tom

@fmxm I already had a lot of fun on your server. @babywhale kindly set up the VPSes with BashVM. I set up my first instance of FOSSBilling! From these I got the idea of starting FOSSVPS.org. <3

Also other guys are using your server every day. Now I'm sharing my VPS. We have about another 60 days of fun times and about ten users, so approximately 600 fun person-days still remaining, and all because of you! :star: <3

  • Hey @Not_Oles , Thank you so much!. I had successfuly set up gungir , it's taking 15mb/s download traffic constantly average, estimated 8/9 TB per month , there's no upload traffic, all downloads. Currently monitoring my desired apex domains' certificate. My next step is to notifiy those certificates logs via discord webhook or telegram bot.

Maybe you already mentioned before, but what is gungir? :)

    Thanked by 1Not_Oles
  • @BasToTheMax Gungnir — probably the weirdest name in the world 😄 — is a tool written by Gunnar Andrews for monitoring certificate transparency logs in REAL TIME, which is a huge advantage. There’s also the crt.sh database, which offers the same functionality but with a delay of 2–4 days.

  • @Not_Oles
    Thank you !😁
The best choice is Chisinau since it’s closer to me.
    Why do I need a dedicated IPv4?
I want to debug the k8s service. With the NodePort type, I can specify a port, but it needs to be mapped. For ClusterIP, I expose the service through Nginx Ingress, which usually requires port 443.
