Server recommendations for massive audio/video encodings

Hello.

I'm going to massively operate on audio/video encodings (mostly audio) with ffmpeg on the cloud. Daily load 1-2 million files, average duration 5 minute.

Considering long-term usage and price-to-perfomance ratio which server do you recommend for my usage scenario?

I prefer only vertical scaling if possible, otherwise don't care

Instead of cloud where billing is mostly non-predictive, a baremetal on AMD Epyc would make more sense?

  • Yeah doesn't matter, dedicated or bare metall

  • 1-2 million files per day 😳

    We can offer you:

    • AMD Epyc 7443p
    • 256GB RAM
    • 1.6TB NVMe
    • Add up to 12x NVMe disks
    • 200TB/mo data on 10gbps
    • 1 IPv4 address
    • $144/mo

We can customize that configuration and have others as well. Feel free to send a direct message.

u serious? 1000000-2000000 5 minutes files PER DAY? i think the problem is where you gonna store these files, you may need TBs or tens of TBs disk PER DAY (depends on your kbps setting)
