Just a single node.
Proxmox Backup Server 4 is now released
All true regarding migration, but it does look very silly when a company is shipping a new hypervisor version before the required OS has been officially released.
Debian 13 has only been under a hard freeze status for a week or so. Was Proxmox really able to test its hypervisor during this time and certify it as bulletproof under a brand new OS? I have my doubts.
I upgraded a single node yesterday, no problems at all.
That's great news. Hope to have some more feedback before trying it out.
Improved Mobile UI will definitely help people when they are not on PC and something urgent occurs
.
It's nice but I find using Proxmate on my phone works well.
I saw Proxmate also, but I was a bit skeptical since it was not a first party app. Proxmate looks good tho.
It works, but I will still take some time to upgrade to PBS 4.

PBS4 Announcement FAQ says that PVE9 to PBS3 is supported
hyperbolic take ... Trixie was frozen in advance of PVE9 release, so nothing that matters was going to change prior, barring some major security issue that didn't materialize. I'm sure those "large corporations" pay for support, so they're not saying "WTF" they're saying, "meh, we paid already, so it's on them" ...
whoosh
The OS hadn't even had a chance to be generally released, there's lots of bugs to work out before making the release official. It's like they went by their summer vacation plans instead of after a reasonable test cycle. What's the rush?
You won't convince me. After upgrade and rebooting my PBS, all nics in Down state despite having links on the switches. Try to apply network, get some fucking useless error. Meanwhile, the PVE checks warn about the 8125's and DKMS module, so I at least am expecting issues there, but not with Intel 10Gbps nics working just fine in PBS 3 that got no warnings in the pre-upgrade full checks and still end up bricking the machine. Companies going from well documented driver support on VMWare side to YOLO.
I neither had, nor do I have any intention of convincing you of anything. You've clearly made up your mind and had whatever experience you've had. Plenty of others have had different experiences. Have a great day.
I've read (on a private Telegram chat) at least one report of issues when updating from PVE8 to PVE9, bringing the system to a kernel panic and showing... a PSOD (Purple Screen of Death). Without logs.
You replied with the argument that the code was frozen, ignoring the point it hasn't been released to be widely tested. You also implied what big companies would think, also without understanding our previously made points about lack of testing. It would be foolish to have such an attitude. If you need paid support to step in, damage is already happening.
OK. Have a nice day.
@yoursunny 's deep atlantic storage app to the rescue 🛟
I like llamas.
No issues so far works great on my small testing cluster.
Sure.

Got a new node with proxmox 9.
So far so good, it just doesn't play very well in a cluster with proxmox 8.
Proxmox 8 nodes cannot see the status of the server and ram / cpu usage don't show in the overview. Other than that it is accessible as normal.
From the proxmox 9 node perspectives, vm on other node donc show cpu / ram usage in the "search" interface.
Other than that, everything works great.
Has enough time passed to state this with any certainty? Most users will not be far along in their testing process considering the OS was released two days ago.
It's great that things have gone well for you. It just feels like Proxmox is in a rush for no good reason. With Broadcom trying to kill VMWare, it's the perfect opportunity for Proxmox to target those customers. Rushing to certify their software on an unreleased OS isn't the way to win over enterprises. I don't see other vendors doing it.
Hopefully I'm wrong, but it really does feel like the Proxmox devs did a few days of testing, said "looks good," and hurried out the door to take off the rest of the month.
I don't know. Lots of users, lots of use cases.
Lots of users, lots of testing processes. Some better than others, some more intensive, some less intensive than others.
Thanks.
Your feeling is valid.
OK.
Your feelings are valid.
Good to know, will migrate one server from my homelab cluster and see what happens
