been using avoro.eu for a while, good price (similar to netcup) and performance

Same here chose avoro over netcup, so far so good can't complain. Also I've been using Strato and can say legit iam impressed with there service both have 10gbit unlimited data at avoro I get EPYC Genoa and at Strato EPYC Milan for really good price. For Dedicated server iam still using Hetzner since nobody beaten there price yet.

avoro dedizierte CPU-Kerne How is the performance

Pretty good. I have a Ryzen-Rootserver and an Epyc-Rootserver, the Epyc-Rootserver has higher single core and disk speeds. On the Ryzen-Rootserver the steal averages around 0.25% and peaks up to 5.5%, and on the Epyc-Rootserver I see nearly no steal.
Personally I'd say that the Epyc-Rootservers are better/cheaper as they have ECC memory and more storage included by default while they aren't really slower (in my tests).
    Ryzen-Rootserver geekbench (4 cores): https://browser.geekbench.com/v6/cpu/7010588
    Epyc-Rootserver geekbench (6 cores): https://browser.geekbench.com/v6/cpu/7010595

I’m really enjoying Netcup right now, but I haven’t been there long enough to say something.

Worth noting is that from how I understand it, as a private customer, your 12-month contract starts to be month-to-month after 12 months, but, as a corporate customer, it still auto extends for another 12 months.

I’m not 100 % sure in the above, but that’s how I remember that I understood their response when I asked.

I put Hetzner, OVH, and Netcup in the same approximate category of provider.

Netcup does have more restrictive/annoying contracts (esp. in terms of billing) as has been stated by others. Just be aware of that and plan for that going in, and you'll be fine.

They all have one or more datacenters in the US now too. Reliability and performance have been high on all three for the money in my experience. I haven't experienced any performance degradation, but that is anecdotal at best. Someone else can give you hard numbers. All the US datacenters seem to perform really well right now BTW. Time will tell if they can maintain that performance, or if it's just because they are way under capacity right now.

In any case, they are very affordable for what you get IMO, at least right now.

I can't speak to how effective their DDOS protection is TBH. However, for what it's worth, I do like the edge firewalls on Hetzner and OVH, which at least gives the illusion of a better system, and I do suspect that Hetzner and OVH would do better during a DDOS attack too.

But I wouldn't hesitate to put production sites on all three providers. I think it comes down to your personal preferences for what features you want, and specific project needs.

(BTW, I have production sites on Hetzner that have 100% uptime for years. OVH close second, Netcup is newer for me, so I can't quite say yet, but it seems pretty solid so far.)

Obviously there are plenty of great providers here on LET that I like for a lot of reasons, but this thread is not about them.

    Thank you! JLET

Have been using Hetzner dedicated and moved to Netcup Root Server. Get a great deal on black Friday using for several years.

    That's cool!

I think they've been around for a while (2013, according to Crunchbase). I have just been using them for about 8 months. They seem to be a quite good provider, at least in my experience.

  • Just wonder what OP choose?
My site is getting slow and
I;m planning to upgrade my Hetzner VDS CCX23 to netcup RS 4000 G11. From 4cores to 8 core. Any advice?

  • If I need to use it for a short time, I will choose Hetzner, but in the long term, I will choose Netcup because it is cheaper.

  • Agree with @jlet88 , from my perspectives in South East Asia to Europe has strong reputable connectivity between VPS or VDS in these three: Netcup, OVH, Hetzner. Hetzner more strict to new users join, lucky if you were able to got them, and has strict bandwdith limit, overusage, you got charged high.

I have had and still have (but a newer and even more performant) netcup root server. The only reason its uptime is less than 1000+ days is that I updated it from time to time.

I picked netcup in the poll. Simple reason: you get way more for way less $$

I guess that Hetzner is OK too, after all they don't have many fans for nothing. But I'm not a fan of Hetzner because I once benchmarked an about €5/month VPS and it was underwhelming and truly disappointing.

IMO netcup is nearly perfect. Excellent uptime/availability, really nice and generous hardware, really good performance and very decent connectivity. The only minus is bureaucracy.

Side note: when I see that some provider's product is based on or colocated at Hetzner that's a minus in my book.

  • I have not used NETCUP, but I have used and been with HETZNER for the past few years. They (HETZNER) provide very good service. Easy to use control panel. Prices are calculated by the hour. 1 My bot has been running continuously for the past 8 months without stopping (lowest price vps, if the server has problems the bot will stop). That makes me satisfied and confident.
