edited August 2025 in General

I'm trying to clean up some of my idle VPS servers.
Which of these two machines do you think is the best value? (yabs are the same)

RS 1000 G11 Ultra NUE FJUL25
AMD EPYC™ 9634 - 6C - 12Gb RAM - 512Gb Storage
12,79 € (Includes DE statutory VAT .)
next account statement: 17.08.2025

RS 2000 G11 iv PRO NUE JUL25
AMD EPYC™ 9634 - 8C - 16Gb RAM - 1024Gb Storage
16,89 € (Includes DE statutory VAT .)
next account statement: 29.08.2025

I'll give away for free the other one as a "thank you".

thanks!

none of them are very good deals, good value, but not much better value than standard plans, no idler value I'd say

keep the one you need and have a use for if you don't have a user for any, release both

  • Depends on whether you need 1TB storage, otherwise choose the first.

You pay about 1/3rd more for the larger (second) one, and get about 1/3rd more both in vCores and memory but double the disk size, so assuming the disk type is the same and disk performance very similar the second one is the better deal. Well, mathematically.

Practically your main criterion should be whether you need the 1 TB so urgently (over "only" 0.5 TB) that the higher cost is justified. Similar with vCores and memory.

TL;DR if 6 vCores, 12 GB memory and 0.5 TB disk space is sufficient for your use case I personally would keep the smaller one - with a fat "but": why should you keep the smaller one and give away the larger one for free? (Of course, for just a single month you lose very little). Also: the way you put it quite a few here won't tell you what they think is the best for you but rather for themselves ...

  • Of course choosing the second option, this is undoubtedly the case.Higher configurations can provide a better experience, especially when your database is also hosted on the same machine. If you're just looking to save money, don't hesitate to choose the first option—because if your business volume was sufficient to justify higher costs, you wouldn't even be asking this question.

  • Why are you asking random people over internet if you can afford more expensive server?
    Just do the math.

  • I change my vote now. First one is way more value for money than second one on second thought
