How work transfer of dedicated server with OVH? (Europe)

Hi,

I currently own 2 dedicated server (SYS-LE-2) hosted by OVH (location: Sydney, ap-southeast-syd), with a commitment until september 2026 (it has been auto-renewed about a year ago)

However I will no longer need them, and I want to know if it's possible to sell them to another OVH customer, in the "Service Transfers" category here for example?

However as I didn't did transfer before, I want to know:

  • Should I ask OVH to bill me the whole remaining time, before selling it to someone else?
  • Or will the recurring payment for the remaining commitment be transfered to the next owner?

Is the process "easy" with OVH and safe? Is there any guide/tutorial for this process?

  • With an european account, transferring a server is just a matter of changing 3 contact details. When you do it, OVH sends an email to you and to the person you are transferring to, and if both agree to the transfer, it’s pretty quick.

I don't think you need to pay the remaining commitment, but i do think the commitment is transfered with the server. Someone who has done it in the past can perhaps confirm.

As for the service transfer thread, you don't qualify to post one as per the rules.

The commitment continues since the entire contract is swapped to the new owner. The new nic entered as billing contact is responsible for paying future bills and fullfill the commitment.

just did some quick research, looks like you use the NIC handle for transfer stuff.
