NBD Tutorial:
NBD is a bulletproof technology that hasn't received enough attention.

NBD allows you to mount a .img file on a remote server as if it was a local hard drive.
After the .img is mounted, you can save files to it by simply dragging them into the folder!

On Linux, you can use nbd-client to mount the .img that lives on my server.
On Windows, you can use https://cloudbase.it/ceph-on-windows-part-1/ (follow the WNBD instructions)
I haven't seen an nbd client for Mac yet.

You should fill your whole NBD image with a VeraCrypt volume: https://veracrypt.io
Then, save your files inside of the VeraCrypt volume.
This will ensure that all of your data is encrypted before being sent to my server. I will have no way of looking through your private files!

Bandwidth Usage:
Please do not try to host your files publicly or use up all of the server's bandwidth.
This is a remote storage solution, not a web hosting or file sharing solution.
Cost, ease of use, and reliability are the main selling points.
You should use at most 100% of your storage in bandwidth per month.

Do you know what this means? Are you actually willing to sell chroot access on the host? The answer should be no. It wouldn't even be a "VPS" at that point
If you want to do this it should be virtualized. You're probably thinking of LXC. QEMU/KVM is better. But I'm inclined to think you don't understand the difference already (before offering this) and that is very concerning.
OP has one server. That's what he has in total to divide amongst VPSes. But only 50GB storage? maybe a typo 🤷

Yes, I can give 50 GB on my SSD RAID 1 and 500 GB RAM.
I filled the server with a bunch of RAM for my in memory database offering mach3db.
The demo on mach3db.com has no rows in it for now since I have to reboot every time I add hard drives to the server.
Once the server is full with hard drives I can add rows back to the demo.

I could offer a QEMU VM instead of chroot.
It depends what the user prefers and whether I trust them.
I am not offering $1 per month VPS to hundreds of anonymous users.
I am offering one or two large VPS to people I can verify.

Also you can add storage from the SAS Hard Drive RAID1 to the VPS.
So you will only get a small amount of SSD storage but you could get a lot of HDD space.

You are selling cloud storage on the same server. Any sane customer would not want their cloud storage provider selling chroot access to the host. It doesn't matter whether you trust them if other customers do not

To me, 500 GB of RAM sounds fishy, i'm feeling that it would be swap, otherwise he would place 2 users, not more within his server.

I do not think it is a matter of trust it is more that
compared to QEMU,Xen,.. it is not intended for multitenant isolation and giving it on the host where you have storage customers puts them all at risk.
