Any script as YABS to measure latency from clients in Australia ?

Hi there,

Normally, I just need to run https://github.com/masonr/yet-another-bench-script
to test the speed/latency when buying a new VPS. Yet, I cannot find an alternative script so that I can measure the latency connected from Australia (Melbourne in particular). If you have a script like that, please share. Thanks.

https://nws.sh/ Maybe use the "au" region on this script if you just want to check latency and speedtest.

Thanks Mike, got one connection/test from Sydney: Aussie Broadband - Sydney

By the way, if anyone knows a "good" (IO, latency) VPS for clients in Australia, please recommend. I think for now I will have a go with hetzner. Thanks.

If you're looking in for something in Sydney I can probably help, just shoot me a message with the specs/pricing you need. Otherwise @trewq FlowVPS is a common option for Australia and he's local.

Hi @trewq, it looks like there is no option to pay hourly for now. Just want to test first. I have seen some positive reviews about your service. Also tested lg on your site myself.

  • Thanks @FAT32 I wanna have a Melbourne-based VPS so I'm testing Vultr right now. It's quite okey IMO. Onidel has Sydney btw, but the latency is quite good. I use https://lg.onidel.com/ to test.

Hey, feel free to sign up and if the service doesn’t meet your requirements anytime in the first month I’m happy to refund. Don’t want people being stuck with a service that isn’t fit for their needs.

All I ask is if you do ask for a refund you also provide feedback so we can improve.

  • Hi @trewq for some reason the network is not as expected. The CPU is so strong though.

I test some VPS including yours and ask Grok to write the report here:

    https://vuongnguyen.net/vps/au.html

    Flowvps price is so nice.

I made my mind by opt for Flow (bought the quarter package) but my friend commented that it is not as fast as other options. Might try to open a ticket.

    https://github.com/dylhost/host-ping-test does many countries

    curl -s https://raw.githubusercontent.com/dylhost/host-ping-test/refs/heads/main/pinglist.sh | bash -s -- -c AUS

It does every country by default, but Australia with that flag - if that's what your after? Doesn't do speeds.

Edit: Didn't know of nws.sh, seems they use speedtest.net servers though. The script I have is actual hosting providers if that's what you mean - so you can use it on your HOME connection to test your ping to many providers quickly.
