Wikipedia Threatens to Block UK Access.
When the safest legal option is to delete a forum, platforms will delete the forum. That's just all there is to this.
Tech companies that do not fall in to compliance face up to (EU) 18million euros, or 10% of their company revenue.

The UK is not part of the EU. there is a lot of wikis about the UK. How in gods name is wikipedia considered harmful or illegal? I heard there is more Internet censorship in the UK then the US. I hope anyone in the UK use a vpn or something. That's all i have to say
nordvpn after the block probably:
The summer madness!
It seems like no matter which party is leading it, the UK finds innovative ways to make dumb decisions.
Sounds about right. I haven't seen or heard of any decent decision to any of my knowledge.. I think, ever.
Especially when it comes to the internet.
Never thought about that another country would not access wikipedia like us.
I'd say there is more Internet censorship in the UK, but it's typically been blown way out of proportion in the past. That said, successive governments have been on a censorship speedrun, and the Online Safety Act (2023) is a fairly terrible law.

Etc.
Imagine living in the UK.
Also all this stuff is being forced on us a week before the UK government goes on holiday for a month. You can't get a much clearer "we don't care what the people think".
like living in China. when the west go west too far it becomes east again.
Aint that the truth. Something similar is happening now in the US with congress on vacation for 6 weeks.
Wait so posting on social media, 12k people are arrested per YEAR?
Wikipedia did the same thing to Turkey in 2017, and honestly, it didn't make much of a difference.
