A nearly $9 USD trial VPS from CharityHost

On July 18th, I saw a promotional discussion about CharityHost on another forum (yes, I regret not searching for this merchant on Let first), informing me of a 50% discount and an additional 6 months of use for purchasing a 3-year VPS.

I am recently looking for a VPS with a relatively large configuration. The requirements led me to the website to try and list the configuration I need and check the price. But after completing the configuration, I was surprised to find that their Secondary HDD is priced at $0 for 3 years.

The screenshot of the order is as follows:

I realized this wasn't a normal price and promptly submitted a ticket to verify the validity of the order. The seller confirmed they had made a configuration mistake and said the discount offered to me was either a 50% discount on the HDD cost or they would directly remove the HDD for me...

Clearly, even with the 50% discount, the HDD price for CharityHost isn't a good deal. If I choose not to have a hard drive, there are no further discounts. The vendor replied that I could discuss renewal discounts with them after the 3-year order expires... (I don't think this is a good offer).

Nevertheless, I still attempted to order and try the VPS. After my trial, possibly due to the reasons mentioned above, my experience wasn't very satisfactory. Additionally, after searching on LowEndTalk (LET), I found claims that the vendor might be scanning customer hard drives, so I ultimately decided to request a refund.

I understand that administrative fees are non-refundable and are my responsibility. I have processed refunds at similar places like BWH, but I really didn't expect the refund at CharityHost to cost nearly $9 (my order was $137)....

I fully understand necessary transaction fees. My only regret is not searching for merchant information on Letgo earlier. Listing this discussion is solely to help future users find information when they need to make a purchase.
