OVH - significant difference in price via commitment.
My OVH (SYS) dedi normally runs at 32.09+VAT , which i pay monthly with no commitment.
While just randomly checking the commitment options, i noticed that the price with commitment is significantly less, at 26.69+VAT
I wasnt expecting that, is this normal? I've never noticed this before.

Comments
I just noticed that my current price is the 'new' price + VAT, so it would seem im paying VAT twice on the current price.
SYS-1
is anyone able to confirm the price of SYS-1 in November 2024 ?
edit: confirmed price, correct.
so, when did the price drop?
my prices are GBP.

check history tab, scroll to the btm.
thanks, it's this one, except bandwidth is 500, not 1000 https://www.serverhunter.com/offer/ovh-sys-1-intel-xeon-e-2136-182/
the price history doesnt go back very far unfortunately, presumably because my server is 'expired' and i cant search expired offers on server hunter.
You don't have invoices in your email?
Check your credit card bill if it goes back that far online.
I do, I took out this server in November 2024, the price then was 32.09+VAT a month.
according to archive.org, the price dropped sometime between December (still shows 32.09+VAT (35.99 eur+VAT) a month, and April 2025 (price shows 29.99 eur a month).
So the price dropped on SYS-1, but (as normal), my invoices remained at the price i took the server out at.
but, if i choose a commitment, i can get the current price, but if i dont want a commitment, i'd have to cancel and buy the server again, which would be 'ok' if there were no setup fees.
Anyway, i've basically been over-paying for at least 3-4 months, my advice to anyone here thats had a server at regular price for a while, is to check the price with a commitment - there could be a significant discount rate to be had!
I took out a 6 month commitment at the lower price - it's possible the price could drop further in 6 months time.
heh, interesting. via email, i got confirmation:
no mention of VAT... that would be quite the bonus
5% reduction for yearly or 2y, but depends on the advertised plan.
A one-year commitment can get you a 5% discount, a two-year commitment can get you a 10% discount, and if you pay off the committed fees in advance, you can get an additional discount.
im my case, the duration made no difference, 3/6/12 all the same price.
this is the same for my other server also.
SYS doesn't get reduction on commitment (maybe older offer?)
I am just wondering since when the setup fee isn't being removed anymore on 12 month commitment
reduction from Rise upwards.
no different on my KS dedi, 3/6/12 month with same pricing
