always has answers in few hours
In my experience, their DDoS protection is somewhat limited
However, it’s hard to beat them when it comes to value for money

my slowest ticket took like 3 days because they were busy from a recent sale. @netcup, what happened? netcup is banned from let for some reason.

  • @Grey_01 said: Have you faced any networking issues with netcup? Isn't the London and Amsterdam latency a bit too high for a germany server?

No issues that I personally faced but I also have to say I dont have lots of UK/NL customers/clients.

  • @vitobotta said: Does anyone else have a rubbish experience with Netcup's support?

Their billing support do not respond over weekend. Normal response time is 4-5 hours.
No experience with technical as I never had any issue.

  • Great configuration and price, I bought one VPS in each of the two regions.

  • Their servers are slow.

If you want storage along with medium performance (not too good, not too bad) then netcup fits perfect.

If you want computation for heavy tasks, then stay away.

max ive seen is once for less than 15 seconds for 0.1%. This is for RS1000 btw. Ultra is too new

@vitobotta that's odd. When I used them they were quick to reply. They even promise to reply to tickets that got sent on Mo-Fr till 17:00 on the same day: https://helpcenter.netcup.com/de/support

Maybe try calling them? They have english Support and you'll get an immediate feedback.

  • Update: IO speed has gone to shit. I opened a ticket with them so lets see if it makes any difference.

    RS 1000 G11

  • I guess since I paid less than a RS 1000 G11, I get lower performance

  • @niranjan said: RS 1000 G11

I have a server with same specs. I get similar performance.

This ultra one is quite slower ngl. Only "performance uptick" is that additional 1k multi gb6 score and the 4 gb extra ram.

  • With disk speeds less than half, I am not sure lol. Is there a chance they will fix it?

  • @Murphy284 said: With disk speeds less than half, I am not sure lol. Is there a chance they will fix it?

I opened a support request with them. Lets see.

  • Really inconsistent. Going up and down on its own. Probably a battered node.

I never had any technical issue with them. This is first in more than 6 months of me being with netcup.

  • Got it, thanks. Lets see what happens then,

  • remyremy Member

I replaced a server in vienna with this one and in my opinion the performance is great.
RS G11 still has capped or limited I/O, but that's more than enough for me

Not sure to understand your question?

I utsually encrypt the primary drive using luks
For decryption at boot, I rely on an ssh server running in the initramfs (dropbear).
I have developed my own tool to automate the decryption process at boot time over SSH
But I assume there are some open-source alternatives available to achieve that
