What are common web hosting myths and facts?
Myth: Shared hosting is always slow.
Fact: Quality providers use resource limits and isolation, so shared hosting can perform well for smaller sites.
Myth: Free SSL certificates are not secure.
Fact: Let’s Encrypt and other providers offer fully secure, industry-standard encryption, just without the branding.
Myth: You need expensive hosting from day one.
Fact: Start with basic plans, then scale as traffic or complexity grows. Avoid overpaying early; many startups thrive on $5–$10/month plans with good support and performance.

While it's true that free SSL certificates like those from Let’s Encrypt offer the same level of encryption as paid ones, there are important business-level differences.
Paid certificates often come with warranties or liability insurance; something Let’s Encrypt explicitly does not offer. This does matter in scenarios involving compliance or high-value transactions.
That said, Let’s Encrypt has been a game-changer for the web, much like SNI. By removing a burden, it helped accelerated HTTPS adoption. But from a business risk or compliance standpoint, it's not always a one-to-one replacement for commercial certificates.
