It's a known problem and as you can see depends on the country. Statistics will not be much comfort to those getting fined. Also, no need to trust them, you can sue the DPA in case of inactivity or not handling your complaint properly.

You're both making my point. These fines aren't instant. They take a while, and investigations, and so much more shit.
And when they happen, it's a nothing amount.
The amount also depends on annual turnover. On enforcement tracker you can sort by amout; for example "non-compliance with general data processing principles" of a "website operator" there are fines of 180 eur but also of 60 000 eur. Obviously, someone running a small blog will not get fined the same amount as a larger company.
