Angstrom's "Warning"

While you're doing free stuff everyone applauds, when you stop doing it the same people start throwing shit on your fan. That's reality. You don't have to do anything. You'll get fucked eventually.

I've literally never asked for approval or permission for our previous giveaways. Honestly, didn't even know that was a rule, to require permission to give things to community members.

I don't see any other admins/mods commented yet but the rule is there because some providers abuse it by offering say "1 week/month free trial" etc as a way to circumvent the rules while promoting their services.

We don't really like to create more rules but we are just slightly more concerned about the contents. For example, the most recent giveaway that I know of are promoting using them to host contents that are in the grey area, which honestly we don't want to make LET into another BHW.

Anyway, angstrom is one of the best mods I have ever seen that helped a lot behind the scene and acted very professionally in most cases, I have to be honest I don't have enough incentives and time to "administer" LET so I will refrain from dealing with this issue for now.

In addition, it is not true that paying $200 or "BilohBucks" or what not means bypassing the rules, we have over the years rejected hundreds of providers even though they are willing to pay for the provider fee, we vet through them very carefully, and there's so many things happened behind the scenes that the admins and mods have spent their effort on maintaining a safe community.

    @Verasel

I like you, I really do - but here you are wrong I think. To be honest I do not even know what this is about but I've come to really appreciate @angstrom as a very laid back and reasonable person and moderator. If you had made a poll I'd have voted "No".
My guess is that angstrom felt that he had to intervene along the lines of "the rules are the rules, period".

And btw, hey, a warning is just a warning that is, something only you and the LET staff can see!

That said, I really like your generosity and your readiness to help out. Just keep the rules in mind or send a quick DM to ask how it should be done to be considered OK ;)

(side note: I wrote this after having read pretty much only your OP)

I would just like to say that the warning that angstrom issued me for continuing with my latest giveaways which are absolutely kosher by the entire administration due to:
    a) the amount of giveaways
    b) that i always deliver on my promises
    c) that i dont even publicize some of them

I would like to also say that he is not fit for the duty of a moderator of any type of community. He does not understand common sense or human nature, and he simply shouldn't be Staff.

I would do a heck of a better job, and in fact, nominate myself, knowing that I would at least be unbiased and not lack common sense.

Rules are guidelines, they are not the Bible.

    He should resign, IMHO.

Absolute disgrace of a "warning", honestly.

If you feel that I have acted inappropriately as moderator, then you should open a ticket, saying why you feel this. In fact, I would even encourage you to do so

I try to make my actions as moderator as transparent as possible -- I have nothing to hide. This doesn't mean that I never make mistakes as moderator -- I sometimes misjudge cases -- but then I'm happy to try to correct the situation or to apologize

Your giveaway thread yesterday would probably have remained under the radar, but it was flagged by three users, which drew my/our attention to it

  • @angstrom I would agree regarding the domain giveaway, but I would appreciate it if you would restore the 1gbps server thread, because there were a lot of beneficial posts, at least regarding users which contacted using different methods, etc.

If that's ok, I would appreciate it.

Like @FAT32 said, domain thing, I probably shouldn't have done, although the intentions were pure.

Still, though. If you could restore the other thread, I'd really appreciate that.

In future, I will ask for permission, before the giveaway.

To me it just looks like you are trying to up your rep with dirty money. Reminds me of the Saudi gov and EWC.

Just to clarify that I only removed the domain giveaway -- I didn't touch the server thread

So another mod/admin must have removed the server thread. (In fact, until now, I didn't know that another thread of yours had been removed)

Again, if you feel strongly about this, I'd encourage you to open a ticket about this

  • Honestly, I'm still baffled about what you actually gain from doing the giveaways. If your goal was to build a reputation as a provider or drive future sales, you'd probably go about it very differently... It really seems like you just want to share with people, which surprises me (especially in this day and age XD). I got a server for a month (really happy using it btw <3 ), and you didn't even ask for anything in return.

@Verasel said: I have given out thousands in cash prizes to member, domains, dedicated servers, helped out to those in need.

Pardon my sceptical view, but at the last thread you "gave away" .ru and .su domains with "warez, porn etc." allowed. Do you think people here are all naive idiots? There is forums like hostloc, where mjj's thrive on such "gifts". Try luck there.

@Verasel said: I would like to also say that he is not fit for the duty of a moderator of any type of community.

I am not the type of person to suck up to anyone or play favorites, and I have no problem expressing what's on my mind, even if this means criticism.
However, in this specific case, if you observe his approach to moderation over the past few years, you'll see that he tends to be reasonable, non-obtrusive, and careful when moderating the forum.
From firsthand experience, I can say that it's extremely hard to find a responsible, mature, and fair moderator - someone who is part of the solution, not the problem. Considering him, LET has been fortunate. He has his head in the right place.

Are you sure your assessment that he's not fit for moderation is based on actual facts over time, or is it just your hurt feelings? If it's the former, I would say you're a very poor observer.

  • Saw this thread on my phone before going to sleep and wanted to leave a few words.

I am not a fan of @Verasel, in fact it has tripped me out before how much off-topic rumbling he added to threads. But I have to admit that I can understand why he feels the way he does about his giveaway threads being deleted.

When Calvin hit the jackpot for $20k, it took a long time for his provider tag to eventually be removed/suspended. So why are giveaway threads of someone with what I assume is a good track record being removed on the spot? That reeks of hypocrisy and misguided rule enforcement.

If he regularly does giveaways and follows the rules, he shouldn't be required to stroke a mod's ego and wait for a reply everytime he feels generous. If a thread actually breaks the rules, nuke it, but the generalization feels too restrictive.

So I can't argue he hasn't broken the rules but maybe the stance and SOP on handling situations like this should be reconsidered. Not blaming angstrom for following the SOP.

Opening a ticket is just the most useless thing one can do. I literally opened one for Arkas and he himself answered to it, and now suddenly all his messages are deleted from the ticket thread :joy:

    Answering to myself I guess.

He's still a mod by the way.

Biloh just answers me with AI so it's basically pointless to even argue.

@EndlessGravity said: hypocrisy and misguided rule enforcement

Why is it misguided rule enforcement? Just because someone did a legit giveaway before, doesn't mean they're a great human being that will continue to do so and should have free reign to open all the threads they want without following the rules.

It's happened on another forum I frequented years ago, where someone did giveaways to begin with & basically scammed an entire communitity after they became "trusted". I'm not saying it will happen here, but there's a reason rules are put in place (for everyone).

@Verasel, I'm sorry, but this kind of outburst is disheartening, given how easily the situation could've been avoided if only you had followed the rules we have in place.

It's completely understandable to feel frustrated at times, but it's very disrespectful of you to mock/belittle someone who volunteers their time to moderate the forum, and who's simply enforcing the rules.

You undermined his position by calling him unfit for the role, criticizing his enforcement of the forum rules, saying he should resign, and yet you expect an apology from him?

    Seriously?

This isn't about overstepping authority, or "power trip" as one might say, but his actions are justified, given the circumstances.

I re-read my statement above and I think it can be understood differently than I meant.

I don't mean "it's hard to find a responsible, mature, and fair moderator" in the sense that other moderators are problematic, but from a community administration perspective - that it's "hard to find a responsible, mature, and fair person from the community to fit as moderator".

Wow that’s all interesting, the 2 mods that really stick out is @angstrom and @Arkas as they are like bad cops and then @FAT32 and @DP are like the good cops for me.

But whoever approves new registrations is just an asshole. I feel like that needs looking at.

What do you expect from someone named as kekistan on telegram. There is something off. I dont know what yet but the giveaways and the overall persona is weird.
