Question re OrangeVPS & China bandwidth (from HK location)
I have been using SM25-6 for a few days now and very happy with the performance.
I primarily use it as a desktop replacement (remote desktop) for my trading activities. Being a Mac user I need a reliable Windows machine with low latency and decent power to run trading / charting applications.
This setup is quite good.
I have two questions:
When I try to add SM25-6 for 1 yr. Which is 16 USD / mo and 120 USD / yr.

But when I try to do pay for 1 yr it adds an additional 80 USD for the China bandwidth. Why is that? Why am I not charged for it when paying month on month?

What exactly is this charge for? Does it mean I can access the server when I am in the mainland without a VPN? Can I create a VPN / tunnel on this machine and use it as my personal tunnel for streaming movies etc? How practical is that? Has anyone done that? What is the best protocol / tech to do so?
Thank you @orangevps

So what is up with support ticket or email?
What do you mean?
You should open a support ticket with the provider.
Hello,
Thank you for mention us in this post! The payment model for this promo will more cheap if you purchase in monthly payment, there is additional pricing for Singapore and Hong Kong location when you select yearly payment.
You can access your VPS without a VPN: it will depends on your ISP, sometime GFW will blocked your connection to our server or vice versa.
Can I create a VPN / tunnel on this machine: Yes, you can created tunnel and using your own personal usage even you're allowed to resell back to your colleagues.
Talking about VPN, there is "special" mechanism in China Mainland that we can't answer your question how you can achieve this. However, there is solution out there with China community you can create tunnel/VPN. Keep in mind, when you create common VPN protocols, sometime in less than 7 days your VPS IP will be blocked by ISP in China and it's out of our control.
Thanks @orangevps - I understand, will keep it monthly for now (but I wonder if you'd increase the prices in the near future and this promo may not work for me longer term....)
Is this CN2 bandwidth? How much bandwidth do I get?
Thanks for the pointers - Yes, I am researching V2Ray/XRay protocols. I don't plan to resell anything, this is just for my personal / family use.
Hi,
Please note that we are not direct connect with China Telecoms ISP. However we leverage KT (Korea Telecom) to connect with China Mainland with bandwidth up to 1Gbps covering all location including Local, IX, International, and China Mainland. Keep in mind that ISP in China is by districts may have different routing and changes their routing randomly. We can give you insight of our network in Equinix HK1 with this blogger/reviewer
