Things I always have to ask providers because they don't bother putting it in the offer post.

Help me compile a list so I can just copy/paste it to every fucking offer thread. This is what I got so far..

    looking glass?
    network status available to public?
    price recurring?
    proper routed /64 ipv6?
    reverse dns (ipv4/v6)?
    install from ISO?
    $7?

I wasn't sure where to post this, please move if applicable.

You don't care about yabs geekbench score.

Some of the providers here don't mention datacenter location at all. Nothing in title, nothing in the post. I have to fucking put the order to MAYBE see the location, because they sometimes don't even mention it on their fucking website.

    Most are resellers.

Only @gigahost owned data center here, all others only colocation or reseller.

I know most provider offering KVM virtualization (or at least OpenVZ7), but from my last experience I would ask "Can you enable tun/tap device " if they only offer LXC container.
edit: ... and if they allow payment with crypto, I would ask "Which crypto payment gateway " too.

  • There used to be a host years ago that ended up having different sorts of issues. Meaning, clients should have asked how safe would you be from a psycho that will hound both you, your clients, and everyone associated with you?

Even worse, there used to be a datacenter owner out of the US that sold a while back, and he was... well, a character -- let's say the least.

All sorts of people in the business. Ask the right questions, but many of those aren't the right questions.

The right questions would be whether or not you would be able to communicate with the owner of the business if need be, and if your services would be cut off based on a complaint (everyone in the hosting business knows that an email, fax, etc. is just that -- it's not proof of any wrongdoing, it just makes it easier on the Staff to be proactive and nullroute) and if you can't come to terms with that, you are either not worth as a customer to them, or they are just assholes...

Either way, plenty more fish in the sea... plenty more options... even reverse proxies, with everything that you noted... but the real things that the providers never mention in their threads are how they respond to negative attention, attacks, etc... and, obviously, like previously mentioned: nullroute.

Something that should not happen in 99.9% of cases.

    IMHO.

Boy I'm trying to make a list out of all this and it's overwhelming, maybe it's better if we just leave it here to point out for providers that make offer threads that missing too much info?

  • zedzed Member

Oh I have a new one to add, if you list 2 locations in the offer post but your order link doesn't give a choice then you should answer the fucking question when they ask repeatedly which location will be deployed!

do you use the new fraudrecord features

Just for the record, because today's PrivacyNightmareRecord post magically disappeared. Thankfully I had the announcement saved:

FraudRecord is back, with 100x more features! https://fraudrecord.com/

I have updated the service to include so many new features. I did it all by myself. This post is a pre-release announcement, I will be sending a mass email to all users next week. let's fix the quirks and get some feedback from LET first.

FraudRecord also includes several subscription options now, because frankly IT NEEDS FUNDS TO SURVIVE. It's registered in EU, data has been moved into EU borders, I'm paying taxes, paying for accounting firms and all that stuff. Please subscribe to a plan of your choice! Unless it passes $1500/mo it is not going to survive long term. The new features make it worth it, I promise.

    New features include:

    Whole new backend and frontend.

    **Fraud Watch

Proactive monitoring of existing clients. When you submit a client for monitoring, the system automatically compares it against new reports by other companies. You will receive an alert if the client is reported by another company. If they start chargebacks on other companies, you get notified before they mess with you as well. If they start spamming on other people's server, get notified before they do the same thing on yours.

    Query History

When you query a client, it not only shows you the previous reports, but also previous queries from other companies (in an anonymized form). So even if you query a client and get a zero result, you may still get more information about their past activity. If they are queried a dozen times but reported not once, they may actually be a better customer than an unknown person.**

Query History is free for everyone for the first month.

    Report Anonymization

You can hide your company name from reports. Clients will need to contact us before they bug you! We'll handle the initial dealings.

    Personal Data Monitoring

Create automated or manual monitors to track your own data and get notified if someone reports you.

    Respond to Reports

Clients can now respond to public reports. Companies can submit counter-responses. One response each, so it's not going to be a response war.

    Create Teams

If you have a reporter profile but multiple team members in your company, add them all to the reporter profile and let everyone deal with reports and queries.

There are many more new features. Here are some links:

    https://fraudrecord.com/how-it-works (general info)

    https://fraudrecord.com/docs/all-new-features (new features summary)

    https://fraudrecord.com/dashboard (sooo many cool things)

Please log into your FraudRecord account, and it will guide you through new features as well.

The new pricing can be found here:

    https://fraudrecord.com/plans

You'll notice the free plan is still free with no reduction of features. The paid plans include new features, and the Ultimate plan is a limited launch special.

GIVE ME FEEDBACK! Also please subscribe to a plan to support FraudRecord. Unless we get funding, FraudRecord is going to struggle even more than it did for the past decade.
