What i noticed : @Hetzner_OL VPS are overbooked and SLOW since more than a year.

Only ARM VPS seems to run flaweless.
I remember the begin of VPS with very good performance, but (baby blue) it's over now.

To the best of my knowledge, our policy should only affect people with Russian postal addresses. However, I have also seen cases of people who lived outside of Russian and did not get an account because of other red flags. Our team reviews accounts on a case-by-case basis, so I can't make any guarantees.

When did you last try to get an account? If it was recently, and you would like me to ask a colleague to review it, please send me a DM. If it wasn't recently, perhaps it would be worthwhile to try again. You can always provide additional documentation to show that you have a permanent address outside of Russia. --Katie

@xemaps - I think you are referring to this?
We are working hard to meet increasing demand. Predicting demand for cloud resources can be difficult because of the volatile nature of cloud computing. Of course, having lots of resources available just in case customers want it is very convenient for them. But having too much of it can be wasteful. And having not enough of it can cause inconvenience. We try very hard to find that "Goldilocks" place in between, while still keeping our prices competitive.
For customers who can do it with their use cases, and who steadily use many resources, we encourage them to consider integrating dedicated servers into their infrastructure, especially now that our dedicated server have hourly billing and a number of them have no setup fees. --Katie

    Hallo Katie !
Hope you find the good mix soon. I'm waiting for 9950x3d dedicated server. 7950x3d AX offer is a year old, don't want an EPYC. I use some your product like storage, vps, dedicated, but not only Hetzner.

Thank you Katie, i prefer talk to boys more than girls, cause I’m living in Thailand and..you better not know the story.

( this story just happened, If you want to know, check “off topic” section on LET” )

I have a long term contract for my apartments on a few papers in Thailand.

And I pay by Mastercard or Visa(can use both),

I just talk to people and most of them do not get any KYC verification at Hetzner,

If I try make an account and they will require full KYC, My long term apartments contract, my ID.

It’s like I’m just out of Jail or something ?
But I am not a criminal person, no any records on me. Never been to Russian army or jail.

It is actually kinda unfair, some people use Hetzner without any KYC,

and some people have to provide a full list of documents, to prove they are legit for paying their own money to a company for using their services.

Company’s like Prepaid Host don’t ask almost any info.

But they are located in Germany and following German law.

@Hetzner_OL Hi Katie, I also was a Hetzner customer. Congrats for the new panel interface. I've been at many other providers and it's so far my favorite (especially the deploy screen).

The website though, feels clunky and outdated - is it due for a makeover? If so, when?

    Thanks

  • eriseris Member

I don't see the "Free" included with my dedicated server in the overview will the remain under the robot interface or also disappear..

In that case I need to migrate a few storage boxes ..

  • I’m looking forward to Hetzner launching the next generation of AX/EX series dedicated servers, but I don’t want it to happen just yet. It would be best if they release it when Intel or AMD launch their next-generation, more powerful CPUs. The 7950X3D is still mainstream, and I’m not really interested in the 9950. Besides, it’s already a bit late now.

Just to be clear - it's perfectly fine to order from us if your permanent residence is not in Russia. We never request document or ID verification anyway (unless we suspect the use of stolen cards or cybercrime), so it's not like we'd know. I believe that can be removed from our list anyway - I'd need to double check the current sanctions/situation between Russia and the US. We accept anyone as long as it is legally possible for us to do so per US law.

Thanks for your response, cause many providers don’t care.

Use to get servers from US company’s, no any trouble.

Let me know if you will remove this restriction from your TOS.

Apart from Tiktok videos and occasional yapping, I believe we should also talk about business.

So my question is, when are you planning to double the prices of your services again aka reverse black Friday, like you did last year on the storage prices. Any plans for it soon, or will you wait for this year's Black Friday?

Thanks for the answer and being part of this community.

I moved from Hetzner used them for years but lately they ask for setup fee and the auction servers increased like 30% in price, so no good deals anymore, the OVH Rise one is a better deal now and no setup fee. So Hetzner come on ! Also the cloud services were really good and cheap in the beginning know a cheap NetCup VPS will outperform it easy for half the price. The only thing Hetzner did last year was doubling there prices for the same service hahaha

Much more than double for bandwidth in US. Netcup offers 3TB/day on their $5 VPS in Manassas while Hetzner is 1TB/month.

    3 shared cores / 4GB / 80GB / 2TB on Hetzner costs the same as 4 dedicated cores / 8GB / 512GB / 90TB Netcup Root Server (around $10).

Online business -- any online businesses, but especially web hosting companies -- have to deal with fraud and abuse. It's unavoidable. There is always a balancing act for how strict you are with new accounts. More expensive providers may be more permissive and "eat" extra costs that they have because of it. We prefer to be more careful and to keep our prices low. Unfortunately, bad actors sometimes use sophisticated tactics, so we have to be careful.

For any online business where a customer's location doesn't seem to match with there identity, it will "look unusual". It's one of the annoying drawbacks of living in a different country than your ID is from. I am an immigrant, too. And I cannot tell you the number of times that I have had online accounts or orders that were flagged because of who/where I am. And I don't really buy things that could be "dangerous", except, perhaps for a crowbar, recently.

A crowbar is a tool that is usually used for good things, but could be potentially dangerous. Servers are similar, but their potential for abuse is higher, unfortunately. So we have to be careful.

@cookie_stamp If you are still interested in using us, you can try to re-do your account, and if it gets rejected, I can ask someone to manually review it. We've also got some tips posted on reddit. --Katie

I can also pass that onto another team. Quite honestly, the team responsible for our website is always at work, tweaking things here and there, adding new pages like this one, and making bigger changes in conjunction with things like new product launches.
Could you give me some specifics about the website that you feel are clunky/outdated? Then I can pass on that feedback directly. --Katie

Are you looking for free Storage Boxes that already exist and are mounted to dedicated servers that you already have...? And you're trying to find them on the new Hetzner Console...?

If this is true, look carefully at/in the "Projects" on Hetzner Console. They may be in there. If not, please give me some more information or create a support request using your account, and our team will be happy to help you. --Katie

The timing for that last year was, admittedly, unfortunate. And it was a lesson that we learned from.

As a general rule, we don't announce price increases in advance. The exception is for products that do not have hourly payments, such as domains. The hourly-based products are easy to delete/cancel if customers are unhappy with the price change.

We don't like raising prices. But when we do raise them, we prefer to do it as least often as possible. That's why some of our price jumps may seem worse. If we think we will need to raise prices to cover a certain period, say, the next 2 years, we will try to do it, for example once in a "jump" , and plan to keep the price there for as long as possible, rather than incrementally raising the price many times over during the same period of time.

We are very much aware that one of the main reasons that customers choose us is because of our low prices. And this is very important to us -- that we strive to keep this part of our identity. Our team puts a lot of effort into keeping prices low, while also investing in the future so that we can remain competitive and sustainable. It's a tough industry, and we want to be here for the long haul. Please know that we do not raise prices on a whim. --Katie

Thank you for your honest feedback. Really.

I am not sure what you mean with "lately they ask for setup fee". We have generally always had setup fees. We know that that is one of the reasons some people on LET don't really want to use us. And when we run no-setup-fee sales for a short term, like a month, people tend to notice.

Auction server prices: I think I responded to a similar comment already, but here it is again. These prices are based on supply and demand.

Cloud performance -- Can you be more specific about which Hetzner and netcup plans you are comparing? I can then pass that feedback onto the team. --Katie

    Hi @Hetzner_OL

Please answer honestly with no bullshit.

When will we see increased bandwidth caps for any other location that isn't Germany or Finland?
Are you looking at other locations that make sense (i.e Japan or Australia or Canada)?

I'd like to come back as a customer but I need these questions answered. Because Germany is not suitable geographically.
