Idlelers considered harmful

Idlers take up unnecessary resources from low end servers by running auto updates which takes a lot of resources. When openvz host rebooted it got significantly faster thanks to less disk io(HDD) and CPU usage(old). Reboot nodes after a sale and every 6 months and require manual reboot to maximize performance.

Comments
The speed is much better after a reboot because no VMs are running
Yes so reboot every 6 months
What have you done that they are all "auto updating" all the time?
My servers do that maybe ever couple hours.
The solution to that issue is to just turn off the VMs. Or, even better the whole host system.
All systems still running OpenVZ should be turned off, tbh.
Idle VMs are better for the environment because they don't run CPU intensive tasks. They just take space on the node and make the provider additional revenue.
If every VM was used to run resource heavy real world applications, there would be no possibility of overselling.
Simple concept.

Hello, this is Rubben | 鲁本 🇨🇳 CEO of HostCock. I am preparing an official statement to your outrageous, unfounded, dumb, stinky, rat behavior accusations. My lawyers also will be in contact with you shortly.
should have used KVM
2025, openvz.
IF there are multiple servers you would observe that in practice disk io and cpu just gets eaten all the time so you should shut up your privileged keyboard.
OpenVZ is outdated. Use KVM without every 6 months reboots.
I'm in the hosting industry since over a decade.
I manage dozens of host systems with hundreds of VMs.
You run OpenVZ in 2025. Which is no longer maintained.
You think to just restart everything every couple months is a great performance fix.
If you speak up to someone, at least make sure you are in the position to do so.
🤡
KVM still needs reboots to apply kernel patches.
Debian has a new kernel every month.
if you run debian on your enterprise hosting servers, don't talk to me. Just don't talk at all. Stfu and install almalinux or rhel.
The Idlers Association has been disagree hard with this.
problem is not openvz but the CPU and HDD.
Idlers help to ensure that the host is up and running, because downtime means million of imaginary loses.
Instructions unclear, idlers purchased
there a host rep in here arguing that idlers use less resources than being turned off, my sides.
@Not_Oles runs Debian Sid on enterprise hosting servers where you pay $20.25/month for an unprivileged shell account.
solid point. old OpenVZ nodes esp on HDDs get bloated fast w/ idle processes + auto updates.
scheduled reboots after promos + bi-annual resets do help a lot.
manual reboots force users to clean up junk – def boosts overall performance.
Maybe HostCock should introduce a similar business model? Not sure if the profits are pouring in for @Not_Oles so I need more time to consider.
