In Russia in offline shop widely used "pay by smile". You may pay by card, QR code (NFC or from bank application on smartphone) or by smile using your biometric information. You can also use this way when you come to underground.
Some banks already offer logging to online application using biometric too. Such method of payment/logging/identification grow very fast.
You know that Russia is far from the only country that has this. China is decades ahead of you, if this is the kind of thing you like. Most apps in the US and abroad also have biometric login and payment options as well.
I and many others personally don't like the push toward biometric verification. You can always change a compromised password. You can't buy a new face.
i dont fking care
my password is 123456aB
go ahead
I didn't say that we are the only country that uses this method. FaceID has been used for a long time and can be called a biometric system. I am not familiar with American systems, but I watched a video where payment with a card in the US underground was advertised as a new technology, but it was implemented in Russia from 2008-2010. All I want to say is that the trend is clear enough, and biometric use will continue to expand.
Yes, this is look dangerous but anyway our biometric already used widely even without our confirmation. For example in survillance cameras with face recognition spreaded over the cities.
Brillant idea!
Just one tiny problem: 95+% of shoddy code isn't written because the developers are lazy and incompetent, but because shareholders, owners, and management are greedy and actually, you know out there in the real world, ever new and more features sell well, so the developers are pushed for ever new and more features, not for safe code.
And how can we jail AI? In the near future, AI will be used for writing code widely.
The problem is that software is skipping testing steps in recent times. Most developers want to distribute their software as quickly and widely as possible, and they release untested software. As a result, customers are used as testers for new software or features of existing software, with all the associated risks.

Not as annoying as loosing your account, or getting it deleted or worse.
I guess what is annoying and beneficial is subjective for each and one of us.
As a general rule, guys, try to keep up with new things, as progress imply change, and yes, we all hate it, but :
Bro grew wise after retiring a single Xeon E5 node to a newer (but still ancient) Xeon Scalable node
Not "will be", it already is widely used.
As for how we can jail AI I guess that will be left to AI to solve.
(FWIW I never had even a single line of code written by AI. I have a brain myself and strongly prefer using that)
You clearly never had post secondary education and are projecting.
They say "change your password" but apart from "Apple, Facebook, and Google" they just say "other sites." I think I read GitHub in one of the articles, too. If it's legit, it would be helpful to know which sites were leaked (all of them).
Some details about this case:
First of all, it is not a single data leak. After analyzing the databases by security teams, many duplicate records were found and compiled from other databases. However, this is a very large database, which can be a good source for hackers because of its size.
So, there is no reason to panic, but just be careful and change passwords and enable two-factor authentication.
not the best thing to happen, hopefully it all gets handled.
can you hook me up with a new password for my facebook? my old one got leaked
Forbes has the most clickbait headlines all the time. I would take their "news" with a grain of salt.
Don’t believe this things, all is just a game.
just selfhost F2auth app and setup 2 factor auth at ur google accounts.
Or Bitwarden/Vaultwarden has same 2 auth function)
Apple is protected with your number auth, even I have a couple accounts without linked phone(secret questions)
Facebook ?
I Don’t use this social network.
It is spying more than google services.
If you have done some basic reading on how 2FA (specifically TOTP) is implemented, you’d realize that no internet connection is necessary for 2FA to work since it uses the system clock and a secret key to generate the random code that you enter. You could run a 2FA app on an offline Windows 98 machine and still be secure.

Apparently the source material comes from various "InfoStealer" malwares so those affected have already been hacked long ago.
Disagree!
A progress for the people not against!
And then you may find your face and your private data everywhere. For crazy only!
Internet users have been posting their photos everywhere for many years. This is the internet. Everything you post is collected, saved and ready to be used for malicious purposes. Unfortunately, this is reality. According to recent data, face-to-face payments are used by more than 15 million Russians. It's convenient; you don't need to carry bank cards, cash or even a smartphone. Just smile at the terminal.
Sure.
You don't need to care about your life. Just smile!
If you ask me personally, I don't use facial recognition or biometric systems. But humans are lazy, don't forget that
pre 2000's banks would let you use your Social as your username.
This is secure. No Russian walks around with a smile on their face.
