the seaGate is strong in this one.
He logged in every day and even managed to comment during his period of radio silence. And he couldn’t even post this announcement?
You know what is more of a concern for me? Imagine if the VPS is delivered, but you gotta pray there are no issues or your tickets may not get answered for weeks/months.
like mine? yeah.
Thanks. That's assuring to hear. /s
Mine was just delivered!
That’s what is most concerning. The delays themselves inherently aren’t problematic as anyone can hit snags with the supply chain. It’s the poor communication and total lack of respect to paying clients. Considering this is a storage server where you will presumably be storing a lot of data or backups, I would absolutely want a reliable, trustworthy provider.
Send YABS whenever you can!
Mine also delivered
He's a bootlicker
Finally yeah
Because an admin advised him that his attention is needed, else he wouldnt care.
@HostSlick plz lookup my Ticket #842935

YABS: boot disk seems to be actual SSD and has decent speed, HDD speed is absurdly good (what the heck?). Network speed is a tragedy (is this what "BIG NETWORK UPGRADE" + "up to 20 Gbps" look like?). I honestly don't remember why I chose AlmaLinux here because I almost always use Debian instead. Eh whatever.
I'll update in a week to see if they fix the network issues (it seems like @Haggboss also noticed the trash network speed and opened a ticket?). For now I'll let it idle because it would frustrate me to test anything with this network speed. Overall I think if they fix the network speed, and there is no other issue (PRAY) with the service then this is a lot better than I expected.
Today evening/tomorrow we add another 100G port to the LAG Channel of one our upstreams, its on my to do list already. this should fix this temp bottleneck during peak hours
Great , hopefully everything will be smooth
I still haven't gotten my VM @HostSlick
HDD disk performance, in case anyone is wondering
This is more in line with what I expect. I don't know what happened to my HDD YABS.
Try to do a prolonged write for several GB (to bypass any SSD-caching that may exist) and see if it's still high or back to normal speeds.
I'll do some real world workload later when they fix the network.
Exactly what happened to me i have ticket open since Feb they escalated it but no working service
Finally my VPS has been delivered as well, here's YABS:
But I am disappointed that VNC access is not provided.
I can't start my VM .. pfff!
Try installing Ubuntu
@HostSlick was this a once in a lifetime opportunity or does that offer come back at some point?
Is not possible have Debian? Lol!
The control panel is buggy for debain , but I managed to install debain 11 after few attempts
Debian 12 image is damaged but 11 works.
For me nothing worked, except for the rescue mode when the installed OS was AlmaLinux
Installed Debian using rescue mode / debootstrap, mainly using help from following guide
https://gist.github.com/tyanyaw/cf7dc5b48401aa95e025da67960f6f2b
Care to install openssh (enable it!) and verify networking (had to use ens3 instead of eth0)
