The Xeon Gold price for 2 cores 8G DDR4 has dropped from 30E/y (previous offers) to 15 (current offer). The current top offer is a 3 core 7950x with 8G DDR5 which is more than double the performance of the Xeon with DDR4 in the previous offer.
From my perspective the pricing, relative to performance, scaled pretty well.
Maybe too well, because I have those two and the Xeon will become redundant since the 7950x is much faster and better. But I'm happy to support good providers.
