LF: Budget VPN Server in Atlanta, GA

edited June 2025 in Help

Hello,
I'm looking for a budget-friendly VPS in Atlanta, Georgia to use as a personal VPN server.
Use Case: The primary purpose is to run a lightweight VPN (like WireGuard) for secure access to my home network.
My required specifications are:
* CPU: 1 Core
* RAM: 1 GB
* Disk: 25 GB (SSD preferred)
* Bandwidth: 1 TB
* IP Addresses: 1x IPv4 (IPv6 a plus)
Network Preference: Optimal connectivity to AT&T's network (AS7018) is crucial, as I will be connecting from my AT&T home internet.
Budget: I am aiming for a budget of around $30 per year (lower the better). I understand this is on the very low end, so I am open to feedback if my budget is unrealistic for these requirements.
Thank you!

  • I was going to recommend RackNerd, but it looks like they're not currently offering services in Atlanta, GA. Perhaps @dustinc can sort it out for you?

    I've been using RackNerd for years, including several services with them in Atlanta. They're very affordable, reliable, their customer service is quite good, and their uptime has been very nearly perfect.

    I have pinged them and they did not reply lol. Looks like their Ryzen VPS is available in ATL but not KVM. I'm going with Virmach (not the best one I wish, but works) for now. At least I got 300+ Mbps up/down from my home vlan so it's good enough to work with (and they did match RackNerd price).

    I have VirMach services in Atlanta as well, and so far, for me, they've been quite stable, but you never know. Good luck!

    Same experience - using VirMach, the blend is really good, and have not faced any downtimes.
    It's VirMach - so the experience will be a bit of a hit or miss.
    You can checkout https://vps.blackfriday/ to get offers around even the $10/y range.
