The LE-MYSTERY is back, part 2.
Bench the same, same drives, just more RAM and a fat price tag.

Also, VCRACK, but not sure if its worth it.

The surprises are at OVH in both directions:

    • KS-2 l 26.99 EUR + VAT with 64GB RAM, 4x 2TB and 300Mbps officially has 4x 4TB and 10Gbps inbound <> 300Mbps outbound (bonus, in the OVH network 10Gbps in<>out) (the first server bought had these specifications, two others bought later had no extra benefit)
    • SYS-1 officially has 500Mbps inbound <> outbound but the physical connection was always 10Gbps and you only had the outbound limited to 500Mbps. Until recently (probably the 10th server bought in the last 2 months) it had a physical connection of only 1Gbps.
    • SYS-1 out of about 10 servers bought with 2x 450GB NVMe, two had double capacity disks
  • aRNoLDaRNoLD Member

    KS-5 CPU Intel Xeon-E3 1270 v6 - 4 c / 8 t - 3.8 GHz / 4.2 GHz RAM From 32 GB to 64 GB Storage From 2 x 450 GB to 2 x 2 TB Bandwidth Public 300 Mbps Price €17.99

    KS-3 Intel Xeon-E3 1245 v5 - 4 c / 8 t - 3.5 GHz / 3.9 GHz RAM From 32 GB to 64 GB Storage From 2 x 480 GB to 2 x 2 TB Bandwidth Public 300 Mbps Price €18.99

5>3 on config but <3 on price
So, in the upcoming, if there are any, promos, KS-3 will be on the list, say waiving setup fee?

I was lucky to get a KS-2 with 4x4TB on my third try (in LIM, the unlucky ones were in RBX).

  • In France, by law, summer sales start on June 25th. So I guess that might be the date for the new OVH special offers.

Yes but orders from regular range with regular prices rarely than orders from special offers at this place as OVH veterans grabbed servers that fits their requirements and we want to only improve the price-performance ratio. And all of the recent special offers better than the regular range.

Found a use case for the 10gig downlink.

I've never seen good summer deals on ovh. Pre Black friday, Black friday, mystery and suprise deals were always best. Nothing was getting close.

  • When would be next sale period?

But can you vibe code with your self hosted AI?

    It depends, Technically yes.

Any model with dynamic quants will run.
Anything else that fits in the 64gig will run too.

    Is it fast? It depends.

    Anything below 4B is fast.
Anything below 16B is considerable fast.
    24B and higher, its slower.
Anything that doesn't fit in memory is dogshit slow.

Even on DDR4, I am still debating which one is worth keeping though.
    I am currently abusing a KS-LE-B with 64gig and a KS-MYSTERY with 64gig for LLM tests.
I ditched the 128gig E5 MYSTERY, it was even slower, 128gig wasn't worth it.

The MYSTERY is obviously faster, has 10gig down and 2 fat NVMes however, its also costing me more than double.

Still that won't make deepseek fly.

The question though is, when you pin point, your things your want, and you got a decent LLM, like Magistral or Deepsex, will it nail it on the first run, so even if it takes 30 - 120 minutes to generate it. Basically its still worth it, since given the time you can spend it on something else and its still running locally and private.

There are a bunch of models, which fast, running on that hardware, so for anything else you would use a different model but complex coding tasks either deepsex or magistral or devstral.
