    Unbelievable.

Here is a better article saying they have apparently backtracked a little bit, but not really:
    https://www.techradar.com/vpn/vpn-privacy-security/cloud-service-infomaniak-steps-up-fight-with-proton-over-controversial-swiss-surveillance-law

The Swiss and German "privacy" industries are mostly a scam, but how the hell can they openly use such wording? Super dumb.

    Remembered me about room 612a

  • Not sure who Infomaniak or "Thomas Jacobsen" is but as Proton's whole business model depends upon email encryption and online anonymity.. you will see how fast Proton up and moves the whole company to another country if this happens.

    Well fuck that fucking company.

  • atklatkl Member

    From their website infomaniak.com :D

  • Jacobsen also criticized Proton for offering free VPN and email services, arguing that this enables anyone to remain out of the reach of law enforcement.

Is this guy really saying this or is just trolling?

  • Sad. Recently I was considering hacking on them because they have a bug bounty program that seemed interesting.

  • Sucks. At least I didn't waste money on their cloud services.

  • i revoke all recommendations i have ever made regarding Infomaniak!

  • Hopefully they go bankrupt. Glad I did not buy anything from Infomaniak in the first place, mainly because of their brand name.

  • So many good and legitimate reasons for VPNs to exist and I obviously don't need to go into them on this board. Also, it looks like Infomaniak is co-owned by all the employees, so is it fair for this "communication manager" to throw the whole company under the bus? Surely the company as a whole does not have these wild viewpoints.

  • They're basically saying anonymity are only for criminals. Absurd statement by a privileged white guy never lived as a whistleblower or activist in a regime controlled country.

In times of activists and propaganda and regime controls, we realise the importance of free speech. Governments of Europe want to take away free speech and online anonymity in the name of "our safety", but history has taught us how politicians mask their true intentions behind such petty arguments, in order to get more power and manipulate public opinion through control of information.

Infomaniak should be ashamed of themselves!

Well, brand damage is done. The only way is to rebrand. If this move wouldn’t bankrupt them - than they will push for de-anonymizarion.

it looks like infomaniak must also be labeled as a so-called political provider. this list includes, among other things: mailb0x:org, r!seup:org, aut!stici:org, $ystemli:org, $ystemausfaII:org, d!sroot:org

Sounds to me like the usual blog that makes sensationalist articles to attract attention...

Will it be a coincidence that at the bottom of the page there are advertisements of VPN ?
