AstroAstro Member
edited June 2025 in Help

I definitely dont need both so have to let go of one but I cant really make up my mind.

GSI - $60/month - 64TB disks
Leaseweb - $40/month - 32TB disksr

Pasting Yabs and network test for both below. Which one would you keep and why?

Leaseweb

  • Definitely keep GSI.

keep gsi because in my experience leaseweb throttles your connections after some time. evoswitch is nothing special imo.

never heard of that before. Any sources?

  • Xeon E-2388G 8C/16T from 2021 vs. Xeon E3-1240 4C/8T from 2013. I would keep the Leaseweb due to 8 years newer and more powerful hardware.

Honestly, those single core scores are still not that bad. I'd say it depends on OP's budget and whether they need 64TB storage or not

That’s true. The leaseweb comes with a iGPU too though.

  • Do you need the additional storage? How is the connection between you and the servers?

Personally I'd lean towards the Leaseweb:

    • Costs $20/m less (but of course also half the storage).
    • The CPU is better and if you are planning on doing media encoding/transcoding with it, then the iGPU is helpful.

      • Granted, you probably could've bruteforced it with CPU encoding anyway.
    • Obviously your results will be different than mine: Better connectivity to Leaseweb NL (which makes sense from Norway).

If the extra storage (and +$20/m) is more worthwhile to you than all of the above, then go for GSI.

I'll vote on keeping the GSI and transfer me the Leaseweb.

I’d be more than happy to take the GSI server if you no longer need it. :)

  • I'm interested to take off the GSI - $60/month - 64TB disks if you don't want it.
