linux emule alternatives?

i tried amule with its web gui before. the amule web gui shuts down frequently, not stable. i want to use the web gui as i use a ks-1 server for downloading so that remote desktop and cli are not as convenient as the web gui. i use transmission with its web gui, very stable. but transmission cannot access emule network.
any better choices? thanks in advance.

  • LOL I hadn't heard about Emule in 20 years. I didn't even know it still exists.

@letlover this one exists and worked ok like a decade ago when I used it. No idea about security, etc.

Fax machines are pretty rare in Spain nowadays, but not completely gone, I'd say?

eMule was BIG in Spain back in the day, and there is some rare content which can only be found there. It is also an easy to use and understand piece of software, it works just fine and has plenty of content, so I can understand why some people (a minority) still use it.

A very popular eD2k website has been online for decades and is still uploading new content daily. Great source for movies in Spanish, needs an invite from Telegram:
    https://www.hispashare.org/

There is also another historical forum still online, they have activity still, but maybe the links have been removed. They still run one of the few reliable eD2k servers:
    https://grupots.net/forums/

At one point in time, piracy and eMule were super big in Spain, with one of the big domestic internet providers throttling P2P traffic for years as it was probably the biggest traffic hog of its network. Many people including myself have fond memories of those years when the internet started to become mainstream and quickly became an enormous source of cultural content in a country where access to it was not previously guaranteed.

Only many years of judicial battles, the advent of legal streaming services, and internet censorship have managed to stop piracy to an extent.

  • tried soulseekdocker and set it up without an issue. soulseek is nice.
slskd somehow does not connect, eventhough the webgui works fine.
qbittorrent is very nice, much more powerful than the transmission’s webgui. transmission works, but does not have search function. qbittorrent can add on search plugins.
amule webgui seems much more stable than my last install. will monitor more to check the stability.
i installed nicotine+ using snapd. works, but requires x windows.

    thank all let veterans’ inputs.
