Depends a bit on the latency between the proxy and backend server.
Assuming the proxy is nearby, the added latency would be not really noticeable.
You could also cache some assets on the proxy itself, which could improve the load times a bit.

Wyoming is where a lot of foreign entities open [shell] companies to have a USA footprint so I wouldn't read that too closely. There's a reason why "random summer host registered in Wyoming" is sometimes a meme around here.
I don't know why Wyoming of all places is popular but likely it's a combination of lax regulations/little red tape to register a business there, low taxes, etc.
