Sorry :( But every time I post something about Netcup, at least some seems to be interested on their next promotion. Next time I post this, I'll see if I can do something with the affiliate codes (even if I don't post it, someone else will lol)

Don't apologise :) If someone was intending to buy anyway, it gets them a discount and you some cash too.

They are sending collections to me cos the way I stop a service is to not pay and that’s not how Germans work

It's the way that contracts work (which has nothing to do with Germans in particular)

To be fair this is a reflection of German culture and how Germans are nearly always very structured and contractual in nature.

Pretty much no where else in the world would you see a company trying to collect overseas for a couple of dollars.

That said: Netcup is a pretty good fucking value and you should just cancel your subscription if you’re done with it.

Anyone know if they(netcup) care about private torrents?

I used two vps1000 and rs1000 g11 for pt purposes. And it’s already half month, so far so good. My average upload volume is around 2-3TB per instance

Are the root servers any good? Or do they have high CPU steal as well?

  • I have question, if someone could guide me, I'll be honoured.
I'm willing to purchase the Root Server from Netcup.. but is there the options to install proxmox on this Root server?
I read somewhere that the nested virtualisation is not supported on these root servers.

    Netcup FAQ

Can I virtualize on my server?

Note that virtualization is not possible. As far as our experience goes, nested virtualization via the SVM flag can lead to technical problems at processor level. As our servers are fully virtualized, such problems affect all customers on the same instance equally. For security reasons, we are therefore unable to offer the activation of the SVM flag for our products.

To containerize applications on your server, we recommend using tools such as Docker or Podman.

what about lxc containers / lxd / incus for this?

    True.

I had a similar experience with the big Germany-based hosting company and DC operator 3 years ago where they were sending me to collections for €0.34

How much is the steal when you try to use full cpu? I have a friend he gets almost 45% steal

For VPS line, it seems to be random (I did get < 10% for VPS8000 in Germany), for RS you should be getting near 0, if not contact them

  • I have a RS1000 and RS2000, the RS1000 has maintained about the same performance since I got it. The RS2000 performance has dropped about 20% but still ok, hopefully the node hogs will leave..

  • This is a very good reliable company grab the deals as long its hot you wont regret it.

Well of course. If you sign up yearly contract you have to pay the rest, not stop paying and thinking it's cancelled. Where in the world does this work?

Well haha, usually of course, but here it was a 30 day contract. About 12 eur the monthly payment and then collections is asking for 50 eur or something silly.

I already knew about Germans being German when it comes to providers (I paid an entire 12m fasthosts contract) but I didn’t think it applied to month by month contracts.

I kind of saw it coming though so I’m not bothered nor do I plan on paying it. The location is overhyped imo. It’s like an outbuilding no one wants to go to because it’s an outbuilding and not the main building. Fuck em.

For RS servers still reliable. The only thing I don't like from them is the billing time commitment

There is a difference between contract length (monthly or yearly) and billing period which for Netcup is monthly with specific date for your account.

Do not even try to torrent on netcup without proxies, especially when it comes to movies or else you may get abuse report, my experience comes from vps 1000 on location NUE
