We need your help! IncogNET is looking for a remote helpdesk operator!
IncogNET was founded in 2020 and has become an established brand in the niche privacy and free speech hosting market. Operating on an unbiased, apolitical stance and "law of the land" approach when it comes to content, IncogNET has grown to be a brand trusted by thousands for their web hosting, server, domain name and VPN related needs. And now we need your help!
IncogNET is seeking a part time support representative to assist customers via our helpdesk. This is an entry level, contract position. This is not employment. The original contract will be for 30 days, with possibility for renewal to longer periods (60, 90, 180+ days) upon performance and an ongoing need for assistance.
Why work for IncogNET?
Flexible scheduling. You choose your own hours! There is no set time frame that you are required to be available, and after initial onboarding you’ll be free to come and go as you please so long as the work is completed. We are only seeking a low weekly commitment of 12-20 hours per week. You don’t even need to check in daily. Want to do 2 hours on Monday? Go for a hike all day Tuesday to disconnect? Bust out 6 hours on Wednesday? Do a few hours on Thursday? Vanish for a couple days and catch up on Sunday between gaming sessions? Hey, that’s fine by us! Just let us know! We just request that there is no gap larger than 48hrs or so without prior approval.
Shared access to paid AI tools such as Claude and ChatGPT. While these should not be tools that you rely on, they are tools that are available should they be needed.
Offer your assistance to a company that shares the same values as yourself. We're pro privacy, pro free speech, and pretty chill.
There is no, "non-compete" clause in this contract. You're free to work for another company, even your own, during this same period so long as it does not interfere with your work for us.
The ideal candidate:
Native English speaker, strict requirement.
18 years of age or older, strict requirement.
Willing to provide required PII and verification, undergo a background check. This is a strict requirement.
Previous experience with all or some of the following: WHMCS, Virtualizor and/or VirtFusion (both products are used), TenantOS, DirectAdmin, LibreNMS, etc. The main product you will use will be WHMCS, with most tasks that you need to complete will be done through there.
Basic knowledge of troubleshooting problems related to networking or general server performance. Traceroutes, using LibreNMS to check the current host node performance metrics, logging into VirtFusion or Virtualizor (Legacy VMs) to use their offered toolsets for viewing performance metrics, etc.
Trustworthy and reliable. After onboarding you’ll be given a tremendous amount of general freedom to complete tasks. We do request a quick daily recap on days you work. Just a simple writeup that states what you did, what problems you faced, and any pending issues that need to be known that perhaps needs to be escalated to someone with the appropriate level of access.
Can meet potential weekly targets.
Communicate any issues you face, questions you have, suggestions, etc.
What we actually want you to do:
Answer support tickets related to VPS Hosting, Shared Hosting, Domain Names, VPN or other products. We do not expect that you will know it all, so you can do what you can and learn what you can’t. Questions you have about how to handle a particular issue or ticket will likely be used by us to create better internal documentation for future staff and training.
Escalate tickets that you can not answer or complete, either due to not knowing how to or due to limited access to complete, to the appropriate person.
Be available and communicate with us on Signal. It’s the only app that we all use.

helpwanted AT incognet DOT ioA formal resume is NOT required, you can just ramble on in your own words as to why you want to work for with IncogNET and why you’d be a good fit. You can send a formal resume as well. None of use LinkedIN or care about it, so no LinkedIN links, please.
Include your desired contract rate for the contract period as well as the hours/days you’d feel most comfortable working. Contract rate can be renegotiated at each contract renewal, but originally we’re only looking for 30 days (extendable to another 30-180 depending on how things go).
NOTE
We will review candidates for 2-3 weeks. Likely will begin either in the middle of June or on July 1st.

Very cool opportunity to work for a pro privacy free speech host. The only complaint Ive heard about Incognet was slow tickets, and now it looks like they’re trying to solve the one downside. People probably want to know an hourly rate you’re thinking about. Big difference between $15 an hour and $30 an hour for potential candidates. Maybe you should offer double pay if redeemed in hosting credits.
I’m pretty sure the pay is not going to be higher than $15 since it has to fit within the budget the provider gets from their clients’ invoices. I think their idea is to compensate for the lower pay with flexibility and other perks, which is fine. I’m sure there is someone out there who has spare hours to redeem for a little extra side cash.
Redeeming pay for hosting credits is an interesting idea but unsure what an income tax nightmare that may become. Certain countries (especially the US) will still see that as taxable income.
it would be nice to see a range though for budget before looking into it or to know if they're considering people from the US/Canada/EU/HCOL countries or if they're simply looking for people from LCOL countries that won't cost as much. it's nice to at least know if you're in their range before putting effort in
Somebody jump on this go!
edit: somebody good
am i able to apply?
i am just staring my own it company, already rented office and have 7 team member.
71.4 GB per team member
Did you read the OP?
Greenflag employer!
This could be my ticket to the US.
Bro I'm pretty sure @MannDude lives in SE Asia
It's just his company that's incorporated in the US (and the hardware for US locations)
Edit: But yeah, divesting from Linkedin is always a green flag for any employer.
Ohh, I did not know that. Just being his customer starting earlier this year.
I'm too noob & austism to have a professional work. All I can do it docker-compose all day.
Incognet is premium shit so good choice
Felt
what makes you think i didn't read the OP?
you are mixing business with pleasure. NO GB in my business environment
selling FTP products?
I'm an American, born and raised. Just living abroad now for over a year where its more affordable.
there are certainly autistic people in the tech field, the right employer can be super lenient and will accommodate to everyones needs. many neurodivergent people bring a lot to the table its just that some employers and other employees dont know how to work with it. it all depends on the workplace imo
Legend ! Doing the same ! 😜
As a SE Asian, I agree if you make good figure, SEA is a great haven for techy retirement.
My retirement dream is a fully remote IT job & Thailand. (though I live in Vietnam, not much diff, I just hate my local-area-people).
Thanks to everyone who has applied. I've skimmed through most of the emails received and will be continue to review them in more detail as the weeks pass on. I'll also keep this thread on the first page or two for a while.
If I don't respond to you immediately, it's okay. I haven't responded to anyone yet.
@MannDude could you check your PMs about a 2 and a half month old ticket? Hopefully this doesn't happen after the new person is hired.
See i would love to, but unfortunately i have 0 experience in the customer service field so. i might not be a good fit
Snaking him @ISP sorry. Are you good under pressure, getting yelled at by a Polish with long flowing blonde locks and the mouth of a sailor?
I get yelled at, invalidate my feeling everyday, what is pressure?
Sorry, but this looks absurd. Requirements are harsh and for what? 30 days contract?
At least body fluid test is not mandatory…
you sound Asian.
Southeast, Vietnamese specifically
Let me guess..
Bali? Let's meet lol
Are you sure you can do this?
I think that MannDude is just too afraid to grant access to the wrong/incompetent guy
Than infra is not structured properly. No ACL? Also, such fear indicates incompetence to manage people. No wonder that he face hard time to find appropriate staff.
All in all, he won't find anything here. Only waste time and attract tricksters. Which will put infra in danger. Do it properly or don't do it at all.
