General question because I was just in that situation
Do providers prefer the customer to just close the ticket when it's solved by provider or customer reply like "thank you"?
I feel like saying thank you is needed but on the other side it is just distracting the support staff
Maybe saying thank you and then immediately close it?

Saying “thank you” is appreciated, but just closing the ticket is also fine—support teams don’t usually mind either way. If you want to be polite without adding noise, a quick “thanks” and then closing works well.
