    Onidel = On idle.

    Nice PSYOP, @onidel.

Their whole existence has been based on luring the members of the Idlers Collective.

Please PM me a $3/year 1C1GB to change my mind. :)

Also can we acknowledge that the ACT and NT are part of Australia via the state drop down. lol :p (I know it’s being looked at, but still not there)

Not hugely impactful but I’d refresh the news ticker when you log in. The first thing you see is Black Friday sales that have long since been and passed. Maybe focus on AMS and NY or something like that, or the relatively recent storage services.

Might be useful to see on the pooled bandwidth graphic or near it, how much each service is contributing to the pool. That way if I retire a plan I know quickly what to expect the pool to decrease by. I see there’s a bandwidth section that I hadn’t noticed previously that shows each plan and the usage for each, but on my mobile at least, I can’t see how much each plan contributes to the pool.

Finding out you support service transfers, maybe a way to do that which doesn’t require a support ticket. Hosthatch would be an example of a provider that has this. Can initiate a push by paying a charge and supplying an identifier for the receiving party. Would be cool to have an implementation where the cost could be payable by the sending party OR the receiving party. As an extension of this, and probably getting too auctioned house-like, but having the transfer process also support having the recipient party pay a pro-rated cost for the remainder of the term and the person offloading the plan gets that as a service credit might potentially be interesting too. Although people might prefer to do this externally and/or really want it as cash. For those using it however it’d avoid dealing with external payment portals (less risk) and the transfer would be instant, which is appealing.

We rolled out a minor update last week that addresses the first three pieces of feedback :)

  • y0 Mr @onidel

This screen needs a server name in some copy-paste format. Like every other sane provider do it. I can't be bothered to type all of that.

    A few updates to share:

    USD as Base Currency

As we continue expanding into more international markets and given the ongoing decline of the AUD, we have decided to switch to USD as our base currency.
For clients using AUD, this means pricing will now fluctuate with exchange rates (previously it was fixed).

    Revamped VM Management Page

We have reorganised the VM management interface for improved usability and added several new features.

We also addressed feedback from @barbaros regarding the VM destroy confirmation dialog.

    Billing Cycle Self-Service

Customers can now change their billing cycle directly from the control panel - no need to contact support.

    Default Outbound Port Blocking

Newly created VMs will have outgoing SSH and RDP traffic blocked by default. This can be unblocked from the Port Security section. This change is based on numerous cases where compromised VMs were used to deploy attacks to other systems. SMTP remains blocked by default and still requires a support ticket for review and unblocking.

    Language Support

We have added support for Chinese. Huge thanks to @FAT32 for assisting with translations <3

Buy Additional Bandwidth via Control Panel

Customers can now purchase extra bandwidth at $3.50 per TB/month directly from the control panel. As part of this, we have adjusted bandwidth allowances in APAC - smaller plans now have slightly less, while larger plans have more, to better reflect bandwidth pricing. These changes only apply to new purchases or when you change your plan.

    Coming Soon

In the coming weeks, all VMs at select locations will have HA enabled. If a node fails, your VM will automatically be evacuated to a standby node - no manual intervention required, minimising downtime.

NY will be available to order soon! It's been a long delay, but we're almost there.

Does this apply to existing services or just new ones?

Is Trump gonna wreck my onidel pricing?

Applies to new orders only. Pricing is locked in at the time of purchase and will remain the same for renewals - unless you change your plan.

    Minor update:

We have replaced Cryptomus with RelayPay, a blockchain payment provider based in Sydney, Australia. Apart from supporting a Aussie company, this change also streamlines our crypto payment processing and reduces internal overhead.

There's no impact to customers - you can continue paying with 15+ cryptocurrencies as usual.

    Update:

We are now offering licensed Windows VMs through SPLA program. That means Evaluation Windows templates are no longer available. The license costs $6.5 / vCPU / month. Hourly billing supported. RDP SAL is available as an optional add-on.

On second note, you can now enable AMD-SEV for VMs in Amsterdam location directly via the control panel. AMD-SEV is a hardware-based security feature on AMD EPYC CPUs that encrypts VM memory, enhancing protection against unauthorised access and increasing data privacy. This feature will also be available in Sydney and Singapore soon as we are setting up new nodes.

NY launch is very close ...
