IPFS made it to EU copyright list
So, finally ipfs made to europe piracy watchlist. This means that one form or another there may be problems for this protocol development.

I’ve yet to organically run into IPFS for anything other than the hosting of phishing content. In fact one of the most effective spam filters in the last year, with the least complaints (pretty sure it was zero, or close enough that I don’t recall) ended up being the complete blocking of popular IPFS gateway URLs.
It’s a shame that we can never have nice things. If it’s truly free and the people don’t abuse it enough to destroy its name, the governments and corporations that fear it will just abuse it themselves and blame all of us for it. I’m surprised the FBI isn’t hosting CP on it.
IPFS is such a great technology on paper but such a strange tool in practice.
It's 10 years old, yet has naive bugs and usability deficiencies: you still can't add the files without copying them into the internal IPFS storage directory, and last week I was facing very slow DHT propagation with only a couple of files, and had to switch to experimental accelerated implementation.
Cloudflare had its public gateway, pretty featureful (it allowed to route your own custom domain name to CF-IPFS and serve everything from IPFS), which was terminated circa April 2024 with just a small announce in their blog.
Neocities, the second early adopter which I know, had IPFS broken since 2019 to 2024, when they finally disabled it altogether.
So, I don't know. It should have been a "BitTorrent for Web", but after 10 years it doesn't seem to make it.
I'm writing all of this as a user and as a major IPFS hoster, whos files among top#3 of daily requests on ipfs.io gateway.
