Rethinking How I Get My News

It's interesting how much the way I consume news has changed over the years. I used to rely on a couple of major news websites and maybe the TV. Now, it's a mix of specific journalists I follow on social media, a few curated newsletters, and a couple of news aggregator apps. I find I'm actively trying to avoid the 24/7 breaking news cycle because it can be overwhelming and often lacks context.

I'm trying to be more intentional about seeking out different perspectives and in-depth analysis rather than just headlines. It feels like more effort, but also more rewarding. How do you all approach staying informed these days? Are you sticking to traditional sources, or have you found a good balance with newer media formats? Any particular platforms or strategies you find effective for getting quality information without getting swamped?

Let's be real - the best source of news is LET

I read news from 3 sides, because journalism is heavily biased nowadays, therefore I read some statements of the left, some statements of the right, and views from academia with regards to history. This is how I try to get a better picture of a subject that interests me in the little time I've got.

I completely ignore social media, because I do not care about the opinions of (monkeys) influencers.

Somehow it's true for me, everyday I go here to shitpost and read news about this industry, the rest I don't care.

The US president, the celebs ... did not feed my chickens & fishes so I don't care.

  • Everyone has an agenda - even these "trusted" journalists on social media.

People should just be critical of what they consume and read and what the author's intentions/motivations are - even for stories they agree with.

People get to fixated on reading content that reinforces their existing views, even when their views are contradicted by documented facts and evidence.

  • I just ask girls on Chaturbate what they ate for lunch and that's good enough news for me. Oh and please jump up and down for bouncing bobs.

True. People should be critical of information, but it is very hard when media has a bias. To justify their view sometimes media uses facts and logic, other times they use emotions and feelings, other times they use personal freedom and even democracy itself. This is why one has to criticise everything and use multiple opposite sources in constructing a picture - but this is quite time consuming.
