Please explain.. I always installed Debian first and never had any issues. Not with installation nor with later use.
setting up linux bridge is a pisstake headache on some dedis and it's essentially wasting time installing debian to just remove debian packages and convert to PVE kernel

its personal preference really but for a user like @rcartists the proxmox ISO is going to be the easiest solution, a 5 year old could run the installer

dm, i can help you out from start to finish if you are a noob
x2, no problem at all, but it should be quite simple. The only part that can be more demanding is when you have to actually configure networking, which must be checked to avoid going there later on and can sometimes be confuse to someone that hasn't seen that screen yet, but otherwise it should be a breeze.
Proxmox is great, you'll feel it like home in no time.
