Sprinthost / Sprintbox is down
For more than 24 hours, a popular Russian hosting provider Sprinthost has been brought down by a DDoS attack from the Ukrainian IT Army.
For reference:
sprinthost.ru / sprintbox.ru
Neither its website nor its customer portal is operational. All VPS, Shared Hosting and Dedicated servers are down.
Sprinthost had proudly advertised its state-of-the-art DDoS protection—and even billed clients for it (vk.com/wall-20034616_15300).
By coincidence, a day ago, Sprinthost notified its customers of a price increase on its VPS services.

Comments
they must be getting ddosed for increasing VPS prices
@Gulf seems like you have some personal hate towards these guys. You tagged me in 2 different posts
Congrats, it's a DDoS attack, even the big players suffer them. Did I ever mention anything related to their DDoS protection?
Where do you get the information that it's from "the Ukrainian IT Army"?
I told you in several threads, this provider is a horrible trash. Liers.
You said it is top-notch and promoted them
They lied they have a ddos protection. If you start a server here, with a new IP, just wait 5 minutes and will see password brute and 90% cpu load
Yes, Ukrainians rushed to order before the price increase
sue him then, sue @zGato
subpoenas are now accepted in Russia
Do you have proof of this? doubt it
Explain
there are groups in Telegram, where Ukrainians post new targets for ddos in Russia.
after this post, sprinthost went down.
lol during 24 hours, spam level is very low
some netblocks were evil

Larry the spammer kitty
lol
I don't think it was the goal of Ukrainians, but spam almost stopped coming from this provider
Their trash support does not process spam reports
And we're back online

@Gulf where did you take that "over 24h downtime" claim from? My 2 VMs with them (in different subnets & host nodes) both went down at the same time, and those went down (at the time of writing) approximately 28h ago.
Either way, the network was kinda restored a while ago since they were temporarily "mitigating" the attack by simply only allowing Russian IPs to make connections (except ICMP which was allowed from everywhere), and so, I was just using the VM through a tunnel
It's still not perfect though, many outgoing connections are still fucked up.
It was up for an hour today, then went down
even main site does not open as for now
https://sprinthost.ru/
only beg and wait when Ukrainians stop it
lol good ad for UA ddos
Just took this screenshot from the panel

To prove you, by default, VMs don't have DDoS protection
And beg for what, does it seem like I care?

Yes, offering ddos protection for a payment here, is a joke now
All russian hosters have disappointed so far.
IPs are terrible. Routing is terrible outside. I used for delivery of mail to Yandex, Mail.ru and some russian-restricted servers.
Very hard to find a good IP.
Belarusian opposition was among the top attackers.
They made the situation stable, but blocked (parts?) of external connections.
Here, pings don’t go through from PQ Hosting, Aeza, Hetzner, ovh, etc:
https://check-host.net/check-ping?host=141.8.197.35
But from my VPS on these providers, ping works.
The attack vector is not clear.
