there is currently a $10/y (non-rec.) promotion at Tencent Cloud. That's basically free and you don't have to worry about scammy LET hosts, horrible uptime or Oracle Cloud randomly nuking your free-tier server.

deluxhost and chunkserve both provide significantly better deals that are recurring
Sure, if you say this eff. $0.84/m deal from a major cloud provider is not a good deal, that's up to you and what you value. Even if it's not recurring, 12 months is still a lot of time.
They're not just some random LET host that lives off scummy, unsustainable promotions like massivegrid and others. I'll be the first one to see whether deluxhost and chunkserve are still around in 1 year. They wouldn't be the last, nor the first on LET.

In case you accidentally nuke your VPS, there's high chance data will already be backed up and ready for analysis somewhere else.

All right, since the fellas here aren't really helping.
Here's the Sauce:
The 1# Free tier VPS provider is Oracle Cloud, but you need a card to signup and they dont just accept any card. But no hidden fees, its the best and for free.
Then we have Google Cloud, they give you an e2 micro in 1 of 3 free regions, pretty decent but lots of hidden holes that can trip you in to paying.
You need to adjust some settings while setting it up to avoid costs, like turning off auto-snapshot features etc because they will charge you for it.
Then we have AWS, and Ali Baba Cloud, both give you 12 months completely free - but also, just like Google, they have some hidden trap holes that you need to avoid.
After all this there is Azure, but its like the worst specs.

Oracle Cloud pay-as-you-go
BuyVM (only as a proxy)
Hetzner (if you only need a VM for a couple of hours for testing purposes)

Correct, I'd never recommend any host from LET except BuyVM and them too only for dmca ignored proxies.
