OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
The expression gradually became solemn...

What are your thoughts on the double bw spam situation?
The Veteran tag is waving!
I don't like spam on the forum. We've been making some light changes the past 60 days to retire duplicate offer threads and have been promoting to providers how all content should be engaging and not of the pure spam variety.
The friction here is that a substantial userbase seems to enjoy that activity. So, hmmm.
I'm not reading this shit, but did anybody make the obvious joke about 15 being too old yet?
Providers cannot post offer without some: "Repeat after me: [insert some h1 heading via markdown]"
The only userbase that enjoy that activity is users with the "Patron Provider" tag. It is just useless spam for the sake of nothing.
@raindog308 Are you sure it's phpBB? That one... feels older to me. I think discourse is a better choice

The new summerhosts that appear (and then go out of business) every year keeps this forum fresh & young
Truth!
Holy shit. My account is 12 years old.
And im still stuck with print("hello world").
I havent made any significant progress in my life.
The only positive things with my life, my hair is still full and thick, with no chronic diseases.

Not yet...
Why not start a forum entirely run by ChatGPT bots? Spin up some software, and get bots busy posting, arguing, having flame wars, banning each other, etc. In this agentic age, should be easy to create a bunch of bots with different personalities. Could even have a private moderator section where they discuss why they banned a user.
That would be an interesting experiment, though if I've had the idea, surely someone else is already doing it.
Real humans would find it tedious but search indexes might like it.
Really, the concern is that LET is too young.
You might think LET is pretty damn sexy, but in court, "I thought LET was over 18 - certainly looked it!" is not a valid defense.
Sadly someone has to pay for hosting and traffic. AI agents don't make money, rent servers or pay taxes on own yet...
@CharityHost_org: let it go.
I miss those 60/70’s web forum days myself.
On a more serious note, I’ve found the place pretty inviting. Sort of drift back and forth but had more of a presence the past 6 months. I’m certainly no veteran but I do try to keep it positive and not get drawn into topics that I feel are going negative, and in return I find my time here pretty chill and enjoyable. I haven’t found mods overly strict, at least not in those “megathreads” that primarily interest me which generally have a lot of very general and off-beat chat, but not too much of the “repost this” type thing that’s looked down upon that plagued some threads of the past.
discourse is really horrid please don't, even phpbb would be better.
edit: i'm gonna need to see your ID before we go back to my place LET sorry.
There was at least one online forum in 1973. There were several terminals in the San Francisco Bay area where individuals could interact.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Community_Memory
Community Memory (CM) was the first public computerized bulletin board system. Established in 1973 in Berkeley, California, it used an SDS 940 timesharing system in San Francisco connected via a 110 baud link to a teleprinter at a record store in Berkeley to let users enter and retrieve messages. Individuals could place messages in the computer and then look through the memory for a specific notice.
Yes, 1 one 1973... mainstream!

Anyone remembering those times are real "old-veteran"!
The only thing low quality that LET needs to crack the belt on are summer hosts, exit scams, and other questionable business practices. It’s the only flaw I see on this platform, albeit a difficult one to address.
I'm closer to 30 than 15, maybe I should force reincarnate soon since I'm too old
I don't think LET is getting old by any means, but seeing AI written garbage is getting old and boring. It's not just a problem that impacts LET, it happens on other forums too (and many other places, for that matter).
AI turns what should be a short but relevant message (a sentence or two) in to many paragraphs of what is largely waffle and not relevant to anything.
Every 5 paragraph high school essay in a nutshell. It’s unsurprising AI always writes like this when it’s largely used by high school and college kids to do their homework for them.
“In conclusion, …”
"15 Years Old—Is It Getting Too Old?"
That's too creepy.
