Google Workspace price increase

eriseris Member

Dear administrator,

We recently added the best of Google AI to Workspace plans to help your teams accomplish more, faster. In addition, we added new, simple to use security insights and controls to help you keep your business data safe.

We also announced updated subscription pricing. Your subscription will be subject to this updated pricing starting July 7, 2025*.

We’ve provided additional information below to guide you through this change.

What this means for your business

New Workspace features

Your updated pricing reflects the many new features now included in your Google Workspace edition. With these changes, you can:

Summarize long email threads, draft replies, and compose professional emails faster and easier with Help me write in Gmail
Quickly format and organize data with tables in Google Sheets
Improve file sharing and collaboration with shared drives
Get AI assistance in writing, planning, and learning with access to the Gemini app with data protections
Accelerate learning by uploading your docs, PDFs, videos, websites, and more to get instant insights and podcast-like Audio Overviews with NotebookLM
Access tailored security insights, actionable guidance in the admin console, and simplified data protection controls with security advisor
Updated subscription pricing

Starting as early as July 7, 2025*, your Google Workspace Business Starter subscription price will be automatically updated to $7.00** per user, per month with an Annual/Fixed-Term Plan (or $8.40 if you have a monthly Flexible Plan).

*The specific date that your subscription price will increase depends on your plan type, number of user licenses, and other factors.

**Prices will be updated in all local payment currencies.

If you have an Annual/Fixed-Term Plan, your subscription will be subject to updated pricing on your next plan renewal date, no earlier than July 7, 2025. We will provide you with more specific information at least 30 days before updates to your Google Workspace plan pricing are made.

What you need to do

No action is required from you. Features have already rolled out to Google Workspace Business Starter subscriptions, including AI features in many additional languages. Subscription prices will be updated automatically starting July 7, 2025.

We know that data security and compliance are top priorities for business leaders when adopting AI, and we are committed to helping you keep your data safe. You can understand how to effectively utilize generative AI in your organization, and learn how to keep your data confidential and protected.

We’re here to help

If you wish to make changes to your subscription or payment plan, please visit the Admin console. Find which edition and payment plan you have on Google Workspace Admin Help.

Refer to the Help Center for details regarding the AI features and price updates, including updated local currency pricing.

Thanks for choosing Google Workspace.

I received this last month. I think Google Workspace with Gemini now offers better value than Microsoft and chatgpt and other AI tools. I just wish I could migrate my gmail account to paid workspace subscription.

    Damn fine alternative.

If I didn't have free workspace, it'd be my next go to.

Microsoft increased O365 from $99 to $129 by adding AI features, though you can "downgrade" (samegrade?) by starting cancellation and accepting the "classic" alternative and stay at $99.

I guess Google doesn't give you a choice. You'll take AI, and you'll like it.

Yep, because previously they had AI features as an addon and clearly nobody bought it, so they said fuck everyone, killed the addon and raised everyone's prices instead.

Not everyone wants to use AI. Google don’t care. It’s there anyways now.

    Cheap move. Cornering microsoft
But better than Microsoft AI products so…

"we added more value to justify the price increase" - even if barely anyone is using it based on the Gemini active user numbers. I assume they've got 100s of millions of mailboxes, so nice revenue bump for them.

  • I don't get it, why they keep forcing people to USE AI? :D

  • Sticking with Infomaniak and Proton <3

  • Still not getting AI into my head. Maybe I'm too dumb. Lmao.

I'm powered by rice, work fines. :D Not sure if AI can make food or feed my chickens.

Those big companies pushing AI down everyone's throat way too hard these days.

this shit happens with google drive and microsoft one drive price increase too, they are trying to include stupid AI

  • conceptconcept Member

This is why MXRoute/CraneMail is better for email.

  • Somehow mainstream users out there still .... "but gmail is better" ... yeah, better for your pocket in the long run.

I feel like grok is the supreme leader of AI. But I have only used Grok along with ChatGPT or Gemini.

I get the free google workspace starter and I avoid using Gemini... If you try to fix electronics it tells you wrong product numbers and tell you sorry, I was mistaken try this one.

Grok has told me the correct part number first try, idk what Gemini's deal is.

I bet Gemini makes money off of wrong answers by telling you wrong parts and then telling you the right part after you ordered like 10 things.

Idk if it's because I am a free workspace user, but another reason I don't use Gemini is because it doesn't let you delete anything that has interacted with Gemini.

Because that is what investors think is the next big thing

  • I just migrated one (of three) of my G workspace accounts to Cranemail.
I like the AI features, but not enough to pay for all workspaces.
I'd rather pay for one Google One AI Premium subscription than pay for multiple workspaces.
But yeah, different folks, different strokes. For some, they are too embedded with the G suite of services and cannot decouple without pain.

You give us your email contents to feed our AI, and we give you 15GB of email storage. Whenever your email is coming in, our AI get to read it first, not you. Sounds like a deal, or a steal?
Once you're into Google stuff, there is no way out. Right now, even though I had my own email on my own domain, I can't move out from Gmail completely.

snooping. there was something... maybe the guy just wanted to train his llm. now things are clearer.

  • Fxxk google. For sure there's going to be one day that you have to pay in order to NOT have AI tampering with your email or search results. I hope I can make enough money to be able to retire before that happens.
