DMCA when sharing or downloading?

Nuke142Nuke142 Member

1) If i set up server only for torrent download and deny upload - is it still prohibited? Is notices sends to hosters only if content sharing? or borth dl and ul?

2) if i allow upload but disable dht - can it help?

I'm download torrents via bittorrent network and deliver cinema to final user via http on the fly not storing torrents on server, only small part in RAM.
For that mission still i rent dedicated servers only from pricey DMCA-free/offshore hosters. Actually i don't need upload it back via bittorrent and I can disable upload option itself. So i'am thinking about what if i disable upload/sharing in torrent network - will it help to stop get copyright notices? Because they can't find ip in list who sharing cinema torrents. This is my logic. Correct me if I'm wrong. Or notices spread to anyone who even download torrents without upload or may be it is country depended?

  • I think DMCA tracks both ways or else people wouldn’t be busted for pirating music and movies in the first place. The degree of criminal penalty may vary but both still come with sanctions. I am not a lawyer so don’t take this as absolute truth.

airvpn and gluetun. qbittorrent in a container, bind to gluetun. this will make your life easier and your search for a solution much simpler

Why do ppl. still use torrents? Usenet, mate, usenet.. Slow ass downloads and high risk vs smooth download and low risk, even lower with VPN.

Just stick to private torrents, and you’ll be fine. No need to worry about DMCA and shit like that as well.

Both downloading and uploading can cause problems if the content is copyrighted.

    1) Downloading without permission is still not allowed and can get DMCA notices.
    2) Turning off DHT helps a little but won't fully protect you.

If you like torrenting then you must have a VPN.
    I recommend for anonymity:
    https://fastestvpn.com/

  • Only Facebook is allowed to torrent.
