Bunny.net Shield. Cloudflare alternative?

Hey people!
I received an email about bunnys latest product called "shield".

What I can't exactly figure out is, if the service is a proxy (like CF)? When I try logging in, i dont see any proxy activation like Cloudflare (orange sky)
So how will it protect the site, beside the CDN resources?
- and finally something which is affordable and competitor to CF.... we like it!

There is no cloudflare alternative. Do you know how many fucking datacenters they have all around the world? It's nuts. As much as I hate them, they have been expanding relentlessly since more than a decade now and if you want cheapest DDoS protection, they rank at top.
Yea… they should've shown a rock wall in front of the bunny instead of making it look like it's trying to be Superman with a shield. But hey, design doesn't necessarily mean poor service, never used Bunny so no idea how their service actually is.
I always thought it looked creepy af.
I haven't used the new shield product before, but I use and like Bunny DNS and CDN. The DNS is nice because it can do health checks for free (i.e. only return records of IPs that respond to http).
They don't have as many PoPs as cloudflare, but at least it's not cloudflare?
I agree. Building a real competitor to what Cloudflare is today would be a massive undertaking IMO.

Their site branding and marekting identity could be a business case study, actually. It's amazing.
Pretty sure it's a WAF, global rate limiting, bot mitigation, and DDoS protection service.
I'm being snarky, but they do have docs. I haven't used it.
Cloudflare has 335 and 348Tbps.
@BunnySpeed has 119 and 200Tbps.
Is Cloudflare better? Maybe. Will your customers notice? Maybe, maybe not.
Amazon or Google provide better service than some LowEnd providers, but I like dealing with people in our community.

Definitely agree with this one, they have datacenters almost every corner of the world (including 3rd world countries). They also have huge partnerships with many ISPs and companies. Nothing can rival Cloudflare at the moment, I might be glazing them a bit too much though, but it might be true that their growth is exponential. More partners -> More datacenters -> Cheaper bandwidth -> Less operational costs -> More profit -> More growth -> More partners (seeking to partner for cheaper bandwidth alliance)

Maybe? Their bandwidth alliance program is definitely a win-win for both consumers and businesses alike.
Is Cloudflare Growing Good?
Yes and No, Depending on how cloudflare forwards their business model, it is definitely not good for a single company to monopolize the entire internet, but it is good for businesses as it leads to cheaper bandwidth and lower operational costs.
Free and no credit card needed. I just find 3 CDN meet the requirements.
And Cloudflare is the best.

I have had very good experiences with bunny's CDN + DNS products. Their support is also very good, too.
Cloudflare I tried but it would sometimes claim to users my origin site was down when it was not. I have not had that problem with bunny

I switched from Cloudflare to BunnyCDN 6 months ago. First of all i switched to BunnyCDN to get rid off amurican stuff. I noticed that my website is a little bit faster, support replies even on middle of night. And yesterday my website got layer 7 ddos, enabled shield to extreme level, not even a single request from ddos came to my origin after enabling it.
To the guys who got ddosed, did you paid something to Bunny due to those attacks? Because I think those things make some requests (on DNS part for example) which can increase costs, does Bunny can filter those?
I asked many times support and the community on Discord and they said that I gotta pay if something passes by and doesn't get filtered by them, which scares me of an attack not mitigated.
Before i enabled shield every traffic was counted as normal traffic but after enabling the it everything was mitigated with challenges. There are 5 levels of ddos mitigation, just the last level "extreme" mitigated everything and requests went to 0.
But you can set monthly bandwidth limit in settings to avoid going over limit.

The only use is to hide real IP, for us we use as DNS only!

How did it protect your dynamic requests? I assume your IP is exposed, and not hidden by Bunny? I don't understand how they protect your site, when only static resources are served by them?
All traffic is moving through BunnyCDN servers but only static ressources are cached. That´s why they can mitigate the attack.

I agree that bunny looks quiet...like a cartoon when it comes to their page.
But the service + support is great. I worked quiet some time with their S3 storage + CDN and everything worked smooth and even the support was fast and acted like they know what they're doing.
And the Shield product looks promising i will give it a test in near future.
I like how people are bitching about this design, meanwhile making orders on default re-colored WHMCS template page most of the time with zero design identity and forgettable logotype.
