i'm sorry and i like @labze and hostbrr too, but his epyc 9655 is really in no way suitable for windows server! (thought maybe windows server 2025 is more suitable than windows server 2022. unfortunately not at all.)

have you tried any other epyc servers for windows from hostbrr?

wanted to see if the epyc memory optimized one would be better

    sure.

on this machine i used windows, too:

    Basic System Information:
    ---------------------------------
    Uptime : 0 days, 23 hours, 32 minutes
    Processor : AMD EPYC 9534 64-Core Processor
    CPU cores : 2 @ 2450.000 MHz
    AES-NI : ✔ Enabled
    VM-x/AMD-V : ✔ Enabled
    RAM : 9.7 GiB
    Swap : 1024.0 MiB
    Disk : 79.9 GiB

and geekbench was even better then on brutal 9655.
other providers also get 9655 epycs in conjunction with windows server 2022. geekbench values of 2500+ are achieved there.

maybe a clean install of server 2022 would be next to try instead of the "per-scripted" install

i think we can ask for custom iso (clean server ) to attach and install using vnc

If you are unsatisfied in the current state then please ask a for a refund and feel free to re-order at a later time if you want to give it a go again.

The initial testing I did showed that the results have improved vastly by running the powercfg command. I need to do further testing to get it to where it to be where it should be, but I just cannot drop everything in my hands to prioritize this. It will be resolved, however.

We are also in a holiday period on top of everything.

Due to a critical issue with the block storage on one server it needs to be quickly reboot to apply a fix.

    I apologize for this.

i thought of that too, and i appreciate that i can get a refund for this offer. thanks for the offer to order again later, because i would like to buy this machine at the good price if it runs on windows server.
of course this is not priority 1, not even for me. and i also know that it is easter and vacation at the moment.
i would be very happy if you could manage to get windows server running smoothly on the 9655. as soon as that is the case, you can count me in!
I'll see how I can submit the refund in the backend.

    have a nice easter!
    glædelig påske!

  • Will I have an opportunity to access flash deals today?

  • labzelabze Member, Patron Provider

Flash deals will be something late evening in CEST.

It will be reseller hosting (cPanel / DirectAdmin).

Just so people do not wait up. Busy day so another simple deal.

    @hyperblast TL;DR please, can't read that much.

    @COLBYLICIOUS @labze

    ordered this package:

    EPIC-EPYC Anniversary
4 vCore AMD EPYC 9655, 16 GB DDR5 ECC RAM, 160 GB NVMe Gen4 Storage,
    40 TB Bandwidth @ 10 Gbps, IPv4 & IPv6/64 included, 1 Backup slot included,
DDOS Protection, Hosted in Frankfurt, Germany

installed windows via hostbrr backend. above potent specs are perfect for windows...

then geekbenched under windows server: results singlecore ~1200 lowest; expected 2600-2800. reinstall windows same issue, reinstall windows again same issue.

then installed debian and yabs singlecore was 2800+.

I pointed this out to @labze, but unfortunately I haven't heard anything since. there seems to be a problem with the windows server 2022 image from hostbrr.

    Thank you for storytelling that.

The purchased service is currently in "In Review" status. Could you please let me know how long it typically takes to become active?

The service purchased is of type EPIC-EPYC Turin 9655.

For me it took about 12 hours but yours may be faster. The orders are provisioned manually for now. I’d say give it at least 24 hours and then open a ticket?

  • @labze Any further planned flash 1 restock in the future? I think a lot of people are fanatical about this sick bargain and have been whacking the heck out of their F5 keys in the last few days. XD

    Expect more like 3

Anything in particular we can expect to see? Storage or hybrid?

    Planned in no particular order:

    Large hybrid storage VPS

    Discount for 9950X

    Reseller hosting discount

    and of course

    €7/year vps

He said this would drop in no particular order but seems to be following this exact order.

Which only begs the question… €7 deal on Monday??

I’m guessing that was Flash-1. Though I agree 2 TB isn’t particularly “large” and I was hopeful we’d see a 4 TB or larger flash sale.
